If you're not channeling a specific character this Halloween, try a sleek hairstyle that's wearable with most looks. We booked beauty service The Glam App, to teach us how to create this on-trend look – and here's how in 4 simple steps.

Step 1:

Apply a volumising product to give your hair body from the roots and prep for backcombing, (we used the Amika Bombshell Blowout from Sally) and blow-dry the hair forwards.

Step 2:

Straighten your hair from root to tip, not only to smooth but to lift it at the roots – as in the picture.

Step 3:

Softly backcomb at the roots. Work in sections, starting at the front for ease.

Step 4:

Use some dry shampoo to give the hair a matte texture (if you want a wet/glossy look, you can use a shine spray). Gently brush everything back and pin the sides down, tucking the hair behind ears.
