Don't get us wrong, we love a good outfit, but when it comes to the red carpet we're way more invested in the hair and beauty looks than the dresses. Lucky for us then that the 2020 Oscars did not disappoint.

The 92nd Academy Awards took place in the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles on Sunday night, with every A-list star you could think of in attendance. From Billie Eilish to Mindy Kaling, Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, and Beanie Feldstein.

While the winners of the night walked away with an iconic golden trophy and bragging rights for life, we wanted to spare a moment for the people behind the scenes, the industry worker bees who don't get to make a speech, but do get to help make history.

Our favourite makeup artists and hair stylists have spent the last few months preparing for this very night and boy did they deliver. From Billie's iconic green roots and epic nails, to Zazie Beet's natural curls and Kaitlyn Dever's winged liner. Whether you're looking for a timeless red lipstick moment straight out of the golden Hollywood era, or an edgy sleek up-do to showcase the latest rising star. We pulled an all-nighter to round up our favourite hair, makeup and all round beauty looks from Sunday night.

Granted recreating any of these for your next night out at your local Spoons, isn't quite the same as an evening chomping on canapés and brushing shoulders with Leo. Just remember, all your favourite stars started somewhere and maybe your big break will come in the unlikely form of a Blue Lagoon...

Scarlett Johansson

Not to be crass, but how bloody fit does Scarlett Johansson look? We don't even know where to begin, the tan, the glossy lips, the whole Britney circa 2000 MTV VMA vibes. Slide one and we're deceased already.

2

Lucy Boynton

First of all, we would like to apologise to Rami Malek for cropping him out of this picture, but it really was necessary because it was the perfect angle to showcase Lucy's incredible studded parting. Forget pear necklaces, 2020 is all about the pearly scalp...

Billie Eilish

Billie swapped her double G's for double C's, wearing head-to-toe Chanel for the night. As per usual, she kept her makeup simple, leaving her iconic green roots and lethal looking nails to do the talking for her.

Zazie Beetz

The Joker actress was one of the first to arrive on the red carpet and she did not disappoint. Showcasing her incredible natural curls and pairing them with a nude lip and smoky eye, Zazie showcased both her individuality and her diamonds.

Mindy Kaling

Not to be dramatic but could Mindy be any more beautiful? Let's break it down. That sleek, old Hollywood blow dry paired with a modern smoky eye, lashes for absolute days and the perfect nude for her skin tone. Safe to say, we're obsessed.

Saoirse Ronan

Our little Ladybird is all grown up and we're getting emotional over here. Saoirse teamed the lilac in the skirt of her dress to her eyelids, with a wash of bright colour, teamed with a winged liner. Someone stop us from reaching for the scissors at 1am in attempts at recreating that wispy fringe.

Lily Aldridge

Proving the power of a classic red lip, Lily kept the rest of her makeup simple, with just a touch of mascara on the eyes. We love the effortlessness of her softly slicked hair especially when paired with those statement earrings, which compliment her lip colour.

Kaitlyn Dever

The Unbelievable actress decided to keep things classic for her big night out. Going tonal on the lids and lips, with a serious black, winged, liquid liner. Hair wise, she opted for a classic side parting and sleek blow dry.

Janelle Monáe

This is the new Hollywood glam we've been waiting for. A bold red, matte lip, eyebrow skimming lashes and sleek side parting make for old school glam, but Janelle shook it up with this hooded see through dress. Mark our words, this look will go down in history.

10

Florence Pugh

It might be almost 1am in the UK when we're writing this, but that does not mean that Florence hasn't inspired us to reach for our makeup bag because this look is beautiful. Keeping her hair off her face to keep the focus on her sultry eyes and lips, we really hope she got a selfie because that's one hell of a profile picture right there.

Beanie Feldstein

Who doesn't love a head full of timeless S waves. We don't think we've ever seen our Beanie look so damn glamorous and we're very much here for it. Makeup wise, Beanie stuck to earthy, '90s tones and kept it simple with a striking pair of lashes.

12

Regina King

Regina went for tonal vibes, matching her elegant pink dress to her makeup. We love her soft pink eyeshadow and matching lip. Extra points for those incredible false lashes and serious side parting.

Natalie Portman

This is the bob inspiration you've been looking for. Seriously, if this doesn't make you book that chop, nothing will. The length, the undone texture, the fact that the colour matches her eyeshadow and compliments her lipstick, Natalie, we're obsessed.

14

Salma Hayek

Did somebody order a Grecian Goddess because Salma looks hotter than Icarus' wings. Naturally we're obsessed with her matte cool pink lip and sleek accessorised bun. We should have known she'd been painted by none other than Mario Dedivanovic.

Olivia Coleman

We almost didn't recognise our beloved Olivia with her lighter hair, but we love it and it makes her brown eyes stand out even more. Despite changing up her colour, Olivia stuck to her classic short crop, pairing it with a peachy lip and smoky eye.

16

Kelly Marie Tran

And the Oscar for glossiest skin of the night goes to... Kelly Marie Tran. We will be attempting to recreate her dewy glow first thin tomorrow morning, along with subtle smoky eye and seriously cool ear jewellery.

Margot Robbie

Margot gave the green glitter eyeshadow a break and instead went for a classic and effortless, velvet red lip, paired with super sleek Hollywood waves.

18

America Ferrera

A pregnant and glowing America looked beautiful on the red carpet. Keeping her makeup simple with a nude lip and smoky eye, she kept her bohemian style, empire waisted dress and gold roped head band the main focal point.

Charlize Theron

Showing that sometimes less is best, Charlize went for the minimal approach with her hair and beauty. Her eyes were smoked out with a soft brown rather than black and she kept hair gently swept back.

Silbley Scoles

There's matching your eyeshadow to your dress but Sibley Scoles took it one step further, matching her hair colour to her silver gown and can someone pass us the bleach immediately, please?
