I've had the same uniform for years: a long skirt, smart casual top and a pair of Dr Marten loafers, all paired with my trademark flicky bob, of course. Cate Blanchett, however, is a fashion and beauty chameleon with her latest transformation being truly next level. I guess I've got to get out more...

Over on Instagram, the Oscar-winning actor debuted her shortest haircut to date in a striking and monumental cover shoot for Beauty Papers magazine. The transformative style in question? A spiky buzzcut that had us doing a double triple take. "BEAUTY PAPERS CELEBRATING A DECADE OF BEAUTY ART CULTURE THE HOLLYWOOD ISSUE," the caption reads.

The super short cut and its punky texture are so early 2000s. Think: Jamie Lee Curtis post-Freaky Friday makeover. Bye-bye Blanchett bob, hello head-hugging shape!

Considering her famously elegant portfolio, this is an unexpected shift for Cate, but it's still one that we're all for. Simply stunning.

Of course, the internet (including us) is already buzzing with speculation: is Cate's new 'do a real buzzcut, or an incredibly convincing wig? Well, with the star's history of transformative roles and high-fashion editorial work, it wouldn't be the first time she has used styling magic to switch up her look. Either way, the style is one to note and unmistakably Cate.

Is there any hairstyle she can't pull off? Spoiler: No, no there's not!
