Scarlett Johansson has tried just about every hairstyle in the beauty handbook, from her blonde Barbie waves to punky pixie cuts circa 2010, but that doesn't take away from her latest transformation, which still had us doing a double-take. Jaws = on the floor.
Earlier this week [June 9], the 40-year-old actor was spotted alongside Miles Teller on the streets of New York City, filming scenes for their upcoming movie Paper Tiger. The American crime drama, directed by James Gray, is set in the 1980s and so, for her role, Scarlett has undergone a very retro hair makeover.
Her long caramel curls are no more, and instead, she's rocking a bouffant curly bob. For reference, here's a look at her trademark style pre-bob:
And below, her current 'do for her new movie role:
Paired with the muted tonal outfit and wash of fuchsia makeup, we'd say it's quite the transformation. And one that's reminiscent of Princess Diana.
Two iconic Queens, TBH.
Everyone's clicking on...
Now, while we do love an unrecognisable celebrity hair transformation (Nicole Kidman, I'm looking @ you), we must acknowledge that this is, most probably, a wig. After all, actors do have a history of using wigs for various movie roles, so are we all that surprised? (Spoiler: The answer is no, no we're not.)
Alas, whether it's a bouffant bob or dramatic pixie, Scarlett has – and will – continue to push the boundaries of style for a role, proving she's a true chameleon in the world of fashion, beauty and cinema.
All in a day's work!
