It wouldn’t be a Grammy Awards show without some epic beauty moments – and this year’s show absolutely served. One of our favourite looks from the night came in the form of Cardi B. While she's wearing a breath-taking sculptural outfit that covers half of her face, we couldn't help but take note of her makeup.

Her look was created by celebrity makeup artist Erika La’ Pearl, who also happens to be Cardi’s key MUA. Alongside incredible healthy-looking skin, a glossy lip and super fluffy eyelashes, Erika took the vibrant cobalt blue from Cardi’s dress and added it to her eyes, too. We love a matchy, matchy moment.

Now, wearing colour on your eyes can be a bit intimidating for some – but Cardi’s Grammys look perfectly demonstrates a way to bring in a pop of colour without having to take it all over your eyelid. And thankfully for us, Erika gave a full breakdown on Instagram, too.

Posting the step-by-step in a caption, she explained that she used Pat McGrath’s Blitz Blue pigment from the Mothership I: Subliminal Palette over some black eyeliner. To apply this, she used a ‘dampened liner brush’ – a (very clever) trick that makeup artists often use to help make colour pop more.

Taking it one step further and what, in my opinion, helps to elevate the look, Erika took the same pigment and used a small detail brush to apply it along the inner half of the lower lash line, too.

It's fair to say that the finished look is nothing short of beau-ti-ful and has inspired me to dip into those colourful eyeshadows that lay untouched in my pile of palettes…
