At this point Dua Lipa's basically had every type of hair under the sun. She's gone two-tone. She dabbled in lockdown pink. She's worked beehives and bombshell blow-dries. She had that incred peachy coral sunset bob for a hot minute.
But the one shade she hadn't - until now - tried? Copper red hair. Everyone's doing it, from Jade Thirlwall to Ashley Benson, Kylie Jenner to Phoebe Dynevor and beyond.
Dua dropped her latest Versace shoot on Instagram at the end of last week, and the pictures revealed an incredible fiery red hair transformation, but due to the epic lengths and iconic shape, at first glance it seemed as though Dua was wearing a wig for the occasion.
But it turns out that Donatella herself actually asked Dua Lipa to go for red for the shoot, a request which Dua accepted "without hesitation", according to an interview in WWD. In the interview, Donatella said:
"The fact that Lipa had no qualms about dyeing her hair for the shoot points to her self-confidence... But she also trusted me when I asked her, she did not hesitate."
Dua posted the image with the caption "💛FALL/WINTER @VERSACE GIRL 💛 @donatella_versace you are an icon and a legend and im so grateful for your love and support! This day will be one i’ll never forget!!!💛 thank you @mertalas @macpiggott @ferdinandoverderi @kjeldgaard1 @lisaeldridgemakeup @paulhanlonhair @simonelmarino 💛" - so I'm guessing there were no regrets in the hair colour department post-shoot...
The story reminds me a lot of when Kylie Jenner opened up about Donatella asking her to go blonde when wearing Versace to the Met Gala. I'm guessing this is just a go-to Versace flex now?
Anyway, I'd like to personally petition Dua to bring back this hair colour - it's D I V I N E.
