Ummm, why is everyone trying to peer pressure me to dye my hair this summer?! I mean, come on, folks—I’m just a girl trying to embrace her dark-brown curls, but when errybody around me is going lighter, I CAN’T HANDLE THE FOMO. Between Michelle Obama’s blonde highlights, Zendaya’s bright-red dye job, and even Zac Efron's bleach-blonde hair surprise, the (celeb) world is being inundated with change.
And the newest addition to the club? Bella Hadid, who dyed her brown hair blonder this week, giving her the soft, natural-looking colour of her childhood.
Bella showed off her new hair on her Instagram Stories this morning, sharing a few behind-the-scenes from her photoshoot with V Magazine. In the pics, Bella is seen nuzzling a v cute horse (probably the main point of interest for this photo, but to me, a beauty editor, all I see is HAIR. BLONDE HAIR). And in both pics, her waves are a-gleaming, brighter and blonder than they have been in years.
Though it’s totally possible that the new colour is somehow temporary (a really convincing wig? Clip-in extensions?!), I’m also skeptical—lightening your hair requires bleach, and there’s nothin’ temporary about bleach.
Of course, this isn’t the most drastic of drastic changes on the timeline of Bella’s hair; in March, she took her dark-brown hair a little lighter with all-over honey highlights. “Back to dirty blonde, back to my roots!” she captioned her Instagram selfies where her blonder hair was kinda, sorta visible.
So, basically, anything goes in the celeb world. Either this is the lightest Bella will go, or we’ll be back here in August, talking about how she bleached her hair and dyed it pink. Ah, to be a celebrity with a professional team of hairstylists on call.
