Last night saw the Game of Thrones premiere kick off, so naturally, the cast of the hit show took to the red carpet. With New York leading the pack, the other capital cities will no doubt follow, but what with this being the eighth and final season of HBO's murderous and territorial epic, it's fair to assume that the cast will be feeling particularly nostalgic this time around.

With the show in its swan-song, Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams and more will be bidding a sorrowful goodbye to their notorious on-screen characters, which explains Clarke's dragon-inspired up-do at last night's event - a tribute to her GoT alter-ego, the 'mother of dragons.'

Yup, you may have noticed that her pulled back hairstyle was more than just a central parting and a low bun. Thanks to Clarke's Instagram account, we can all get a better look at what was going on at the back.

Styled by Jenny Cho, Clarke's hair was pulled into a spiky, semi-occluded French plait, the ridges of which look fantastically similar to the barbs that run down the spines of her dragon offspring on the show.

A fitting way to honour the fearsome Mother of Dragons: Daenerys Targaryen.
