Hi, hello, and welcome to the latest edition of Secret Celeb Haircuts, with your host, me. On this week’s “UM, WTF” episode is actress Sarah Hyland, who got an insanely cool, shaggy lob haircut without any of us noticing.
Though the Modern Family star technically did post a photo of her new hair to Instagram earlier this week, it was easy to scroll by and miss, solely because Hyland looks almost unrecognisable in the pic.
The photo, which Hyland captioned “Shagadocious bro,” shows the actress in jeans, a white top, and, most importantly, a super-shaggy, super-short, and super-choppy lob. So, you know, your dream summer haircut. The cropped cut is a major departure from her usual hairstyle—long, smooth waves—and, at first glance, makes her look like a different person.
Naturally, I am now contemplating chopping off all of my hair (somebody please stop me), because every celeb seems to be getting a lob, the latest being Karlie Kloss, who opted for an angled lob for spring. Though Hyland hasn’t disclosed which celeb stylist cut her hair, they were clearly channeling some Joan Jett vibes, since her hair feels rocker-y in the best of ways.
This is a good lesson in obsessively stalking your own Instagram feed for celeb-hair updates, lest you live your life not knowing the current length of a stranger's hair. What a hard existence that would be, huh.
