Meet the Cast and Characters of ‘The Runarounds’

If you've chosen The Runarounds to scratch your beachy young adult fix, now that shows like The Summer I Turned Pretty, We Were Liars, and Outer Banks have wound down, you may have some questions about this scrappy cast of teen musicians. Who are these boys who hang their future on their high school band hitting it big? And where did they come from? Let this be your cheat sheet to the cast and characters of The Runarounds.
The Prime Video series is a fictional show about a real band. Meaning: The Runarounds is a real band made up of the musicians that you see on the show. However, they are not all from Wilmington and did not all go to high school together. The characters they play all have different names, backstories, and love interests as well. Still, how cool is it to see art imitate life in this creative way? Their chemistry and their chops as musicians are 100 percent genuine.
That said, for like 40 percent of the main cast, this is their first foray into acting. That's why you haven't seen them before on your screens, outside of an appearance as themselves on Outer Banks. They're all on social, however, and you can also follow the band on IG for what it's worth. They're going on tour this fall and everything!
William Lipton as Charlie Cooper
Charlie is the protagonist and biggest dreamer of the band. He's the type of kid who really believes that rock and roll can save the world, even in the 21st century, and is avoiding college and all other adult responsibilities to make that happen with his band.
Lipton scrubbed in for over 300 episodes of General Hospital, and played the love interest in a gender-swapped Mark Twain adaptation called The Adventures of Thomasina Sawyer.

Brooklyn Decker as Hannah Cooper
Charlie's mom, who would definitely prefer her son go to college and has some past adventures and skeletons of her own.
You might know Decker from Grace and Frankie, Just Go With It, and Support The Girls. You may also just know of her because she's a famous model who is married to Andy Roddick. All valid!
Some of the other grown-ups on the show include Mark Wystrach from the band Midland as Catesby, comedian Hayes MacArthur as Charlie's dad Finn Cooper, and Paul Schneider (a.k.a. Mark Brendanawicz from Parks and Rec) as Sophia's dad Henry.

Jesse Golliher as Wyatt Wysong
The bass player of the band, albeit a later addition, who has a less than ideal home life. He has some songwriting prowess as well.
This is Golliher's debut role!

Axel Ellis as Neil Crosby
A stoner who's into philosophy, poetry, and is also in the band. He plays guitar and was in the band from the start under its, uh, other name.
This is Ellis' debut acting role as well. Remember, these guys were all musicians part of a real band called The Runarounds first.

Zendé Murdock as Bez Willis
The band's talented new drummer who lowkey turns things around for them.
This is, you guessed it, Murdock's first acting role. But he did appear on the kids version of The Voice in 2012.

Jeremy Yun as Topher Park
Original band member who, like most of them, starts to feel like the path he's on isn't right for him as the band gets bigger.
Lipton's childhood BFF and bandmate who is, like the others, brand new to acting.

Marley Aliah as Ruthie Bender
A.K.A. "Bender," she's the quintessential cool girl who makes dirty jokes and pokes fun at the guys.
Aliah is a Wilmington local who's done some shorts, television, a film called Abigail Falls, and is set to be in Bobby Farrelly's upcoming teen road trip comedy Driver's Ed.

Lilah Pate as Sophia Kinney
The class valedictorian who feels some last-minute FOMO over not having had enough fun in high school for only having dreams like good grades and college acceptance. She has an unsteady relationship with her father. She also has Charlie's not-so-secret affection...
Pate, whose father Jonas Pate created this series and co-created Outer Banks, played a debutante named Gigi on The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 1 who the hots for Jeremiah (he's all yours, girl...) and appeared on Outer Banks as "Peeler." She will also be in Driver's Ed!

Maximo Salas as Pete Antuna
The band's original drummer, and forever friend, who steps aside to cheer them on instead and becomes their manager.
Salas played "Shy Guy" (that's a character name, not like the description of an extra) in Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies.

Kelley Pereira as Amanda
Topher's girlfriend at the start of the series. She's also a little more practical, straight-laced, and straight at the start of the series. All of that is about to change.
This is not Pereira's first acting role, but it is pretty major. She's done some shorts and appeared briefly as a member of the feminist movement on Showtime's The First Lady.

Shea Pritchard as George Benson
A former Wilmington High classmate who also takes an interest in Sophia.
Pritchard played an annoying rich kid named Trevor on The Summer I Turned Pretty and is set to be in HBO's DC Universe series Lanterns.
