• Taylor Swift dropped her twelfth album, The Life of a Showgirl, on Friday, Oct. 3.
  • The album is full of references to her superstar fiancé, Travis Kelce.
  • We’re breaking down every lyric, reference, and Easter egg about Travis on Taylor’s new album.

Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl is officially upon us, and her fiancé, Travis Kelce, is written all over it. This album is, surprisingly, dripping in references to the Kansas City tight end. While the Grammy winner has kept her past romances relatively lowkey, this is the first time she’s been this public about a romantic prospect in a minute. Aside from more personal tracks like “Eldest Daughter” and “Father Figure,” TLOAS might as well be Taylor saying “My man, my man, my man” across several tracks.

That being said, we know Tay loves a good reference. Here’s every lyric, reference, and Easter egg about Travis Kelce on The Life of a Showgirl so you can impress your group chats—and if you need an in-depth play-by-play, we’ve got that, too. (You’re welcome.)

“The Fate of Ophelia”

“I heard you calling on the megaphone / You wanna see me all alone / As legend has it, you are quite the pyro / You light the match to watch it blow”

This entire song has Travis written all over it, and from the jump, Taylor references how he used his New Heights podcast to shoot his shot with her after he attempted (and failed) to meet her at the Eras Tour in July 2023.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” he explained at the time, adding he was “a little butt-hurt” that he couldn’t chat with her.

“She doesn’t meet anybody—or at least she didn’t want to meet me, so I took it personal,” he joked during the podcast.

The couple’s initials are also T and T—or, TNT, like dynamite. So, this second line could allude to that.

“Keep it one hundred on the land, thе sea, the sky / Pledge allegiance to your hands, your team, your vibes”

Ah, yes, the infamous “keep it one hundred” lyric. This is a direct reference to the saying, which was featured in the caption of their hard launch on Travis’ Instagram feed, as well as some numerology in their world. 13 is famously Taylor’s favorite number and the day she was born, and 87 is Travis’ jersey number on the Kansas City Chiefs (who receive a sweet shoutout here, too). 13 + 97? We’re no mathematicians, but it equals 100.

“Elizabeth Taylor”

“All the right guys / Promised they’d stay / Under bright lights / They withered away / But you bloom”

As we previously mentioned, Taylor’s relationships have been relatively private over the years. Her romance with Travis is a departure from her six-year relationship with Joe Alwyn, which was completely separate from their public endeavors.

On “Elizabeth Taylor,” she talks about the dichotomy of past lovers who promised they’d stay by her side as her star rises—but Travis outlived them all.

“Opalite”

“You couldn’t understand it / Why you felt alone / You were in it for real / She was in her phone”

On top of Travis revealing that this is his favorite Showgirl track on New Heights, his birthstone also happens to be opal.

Taylor also revealed why she thinks he leans toward this song during a release day interview with Capital FM, saying, “Travis’ birthstone is opal, and I’ve always been fixated on that. I always thought it was a cool metaphor that it’s a man-made opal, and happiness can also be man-made, too.”

“Wi$h Li$t”

“I just want you / Have a couple kids / Got the whole block looking like you / We tell the world to leave us the fuck alone...and they do / Wow / Got me dreaming ’bout a driveway / With a basketball hoop”

Taylor “Billionaire” Swift could have any flashy thing she wants, like yachts, private jets, and Cartier jewelry. But, at the end of the day, she’s so into Travis, she admits to wanting to have kids with him.

Ahead of TLOAS’s release, sources told Us Weekly, They absolutely want a family. Their dream is to have kids.”

“Wood”

“New Heights of manhood / I ain’t gotta knock on wood”

Obviously, this is a direct reference to Travis’ podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce…and his stroke game.

“Forgive me, it sounds cocky / He ah-matized me and opened my еyes / Redwood tree, it ain't hard to see / His love was thе key that opened my thighs”

This one stands out particularly because of this fan-made social media post that was published nearly four years (!!!) before TLOAS even dropped.

“Girls, I don't need to catch the bouquet, mm / To know a hard rock is on the way”

Laden with double entendres and obvious NSFW references to her man, this calls back to her engagement (wholesome) and his hard-on (raunchy).

“Honey”

“But you touched my face / Redefined all of those blues / When you say ‘Honey’”

When Taylor appeared on New Heights on August 13, she and Travis called each other pet names like “honey” and “sweetie” throughout the episode.

Sweetie, it’s yours, kicking in doors, take it to the floor, gimme more, buy the paint in the color of your eyes, of your mind / And graffiti my whole damn life

This fully encapsulates the feeling of Tay falling in love with Travis. On New Heights, she complimented his blue sweater, to which he replied, “Yes, I know. It’s the color of your eyes, sweetie.”
