- Taylor Swift gives an update on when fans can expect Reputation Vault tracks to be released.
- The singer says new songs from her Reputation era won’t be released “anytime soon.”
- Taylor said she’s enjoying focusing on her new album, The Life of a Showgirl.
When Taylor Swift announced that she had bought back her masters in May, she teased that—while this does mean fans won’t be getting a Reputation (Taylor’s Version)—she *would* eventually release the Vault tracks. Cut to months later, fans are still waiting, and based on Taylor Swift’s new update on the Reputation Vault tracks, they’ll be waiting for a while.
“There’s nothing coming from Reputation any time soon,” Taylor said during a recent appearance on the Roula & Ryan Show with Eric. (That sound you hear is the sound of Reputation girlies letting out a primal scream of despair.)
She continued, “You have to understand how much Reputation has pleasantly surprised me over the years. When that album came out, I was like, ‘I love this album so much,’ but… it just got thrown into a fire…blown to bits. And then you see it over the years and people now decide it’s their favorite of my albums which is just the coolest feeling in the world. That was always my favorite that I felt like didn’t really get a fair swing of it. And so now that they’re like, ‘We love that album, we want more of it,’ it’s lovely, it’s wonderful.”
When Taylor announced that she had bought back her masters, she only had two albums left to rerecord: her self-titled debut and Reputation. “Full transparency: I haven’t even re-recorded a quarter of it,” she wrote in reference to Rep TV at the time. “The Reputation album was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it.”
She added that it was the only album she felt “wouldn’t be improved upon by re-recording it”—but she also noted that “there will be a time (if you’re into the idea) for the unreleased Vault tracks from that album to hatch.”
So! While fans will get the Reputation Vault tracks eventually, they just won’t be getting them right now.
“We just had a new album come out, and I am so in that moment, and I think that this moment is a pretty fantastic one,” Taylor said during her Roula & Ryan Show appearance. “So what I would invite my fans to do is just be here with me. Be here with me on this album because this album is fantastic and we’re all having so much fun.”
Guess we’re all in our The Life of a Showgirl era now.
