Settle in, because "Actually Romantic" is here and there's a lot to discuss. This has been one of the most anticipated songs on Taylor Swift's new album, The Life of a Showgirl, due to fans assuming it's about Charli xcx. And this started welllll before "Actually Romantic" dropped thanks to a) Charli having a song called "Everything Is Romantic," b) fans thinking that Charli's song "Sympathy Is a Knife" is about Taylor, and c) Charli's friend Gabriette Bechtel (aka Taylor's ex Matty Healy's fiancé) posting this:

Meanwhile, the lyrics definitely appear to be about Taylor's beef with...someone. I mean, there's this: "I heard you call me 'Boring Barbie' when the coke's got you brave," and this "you said you're glad he ghosted me," and THIS "Wrote me a song saying it makes you sick to see my face."

Taylor then says that this unnamed person's obsession with her is "actually romantic" and that she views said obsession as flattering. People who know the lyrics to "Sympathy Is a Knife" might also connect Charli's lyrics, "George says, 'I'm just paranoid'" to Tay's lyrics "How many times has your boyfriend 'Why are we always talking about her?"
