Big thanks to our white sneakers and major shouts to our trusty summer sandals, but there’s a new kid in town that's replacing our go-to footwear and let me tell you, all the fashion girls seriously can’t get enough. I’ll give you a hint: It’s a little more elevated than last year’s mesh trend and not as sweaty as leather. If you guessed the woven shoe trend, dingdingding—and here at Cosmo, we’re deeming it a major breakout moment this spring.

What exactly is this woven shoe trend? Think lightweight natural fibers in a netted or more tightly-woven design (like a Bottega-esque weave). Designers like Fendi, Jacquemus, Gabriela Hearst, Chloé, and more featured variations of this trend on their runways, so there’s something for everyone no matter your vibe: classic Mary Janes, spicier sandals with bold metal buckles and leather details, even mules with funky netting like the Staud Rete Sandal. Oh, and all of these woven shoes are uber-lightweight, meaning that they won’t take up precious real estate in the carry-on suitcase you’re bringing to Tulum.

If this is the warm weather shoe reset you've been searching for, you're in luck, because I rounded up 12 of the chicest pairs out there for you to browse. Happy shopping!

When it comes to woven shoes, this is about as classic as it gets—a simple ballet flat with a little over-the-foot strap. It'll match every sundress and every two-piece set you're planning on wearing this spring.

Okay, edgy! The adjustable double buckle and leather strap that circles the entire foot is just so chic, end of story. Oh, and can't forget the rounded toe that comes up high on the foot—no toe cleavage here.

Look at that cutie little stacked heel! It's enough to elevate the shoe a tad (no pun intended) but not enough that you'll feel any sort of heel-related pain. Plus, a splash of muted color takes your wardrobe from literally-so-blah-because-it's-the-end-of-winter to spring-ready.

The woven trend comes in clutch for vacation dinners and fancier events, too, so don't you worry about that. These buckled mules are the perfect upgrade to your typical neutral heel.

Leave it to Staud to create a perfectly unique woven mule with just a touch of the fisherman aesthetic. The criss-cross leather straps are a nice little design touch, too.

Metallic shades of gold (and silver) have been big on the runways and on the uber-stylish streets outside of said runways, too. These flats aren't super flashy or anything, just slightly more adventurous than their beige counterpart.

Vintage lovers, this one is for you. The wicker weave, leather pointed toe, and absolutely wearable kitten heel? Sharp and sophisticated, with some extra air flow.

If you're feeling adventurous, this caged shoe with an open weave from Steve Madden is an upgraded version of your average ballet flat.

Larroude makes some of the prettiest shoes on the market, in my humble opinion, like this pair with a cool sculptural buckle that'll go nicely with your daily rotation of gold jewelry.

Presenting: A little slingback that works equally well with a beachy wedding guest dress as it does a pair of jeans and your favorite tee.

This shoe has the same trendy woven pattern but on a clog-style shoe with a cushioned footbed that gives it a little more sturdiness. Plus, this one comes in wide widths, too.

If you needed someone to give you permission to wear a shoe that isn't a white sneaker or black flat, let me be that person. This robin's-egg blue woven shoe is Cosmo-approved.
