Living in New York City is like watching my mood boards come to life—I’m always taking note of what people are wearing. Everyone is mixing aesthetics and experimenting in real time, but it’s always obvious when a trend starts bubbling up. Case in point: asymmetrical lace-trim tops. Suddenly, it feels like one in every five people is wearing the style, almost as if it has become the new basic tank top. And honestly, every outfit I see only makes me want one even more.

Even though they’re everywhere—from the chicest streets of NYC to my social feeds—the trend doesn’t feel all that surprising. With lace-trim shorts and skirts having such a major moment right now, fashion is clearly in its romantic era, embracing silhouettes that feel longer, softer, and more fluid after years of the crop cut dominating. The asymmetrical lace-trim tops I’ve been seeing typically have a longer hemline that falls past the hips with a fluid, dress-like drape. It’s a piece that could instantly add elegance to even the most basic jeans or trousers. I’ve even seen it styled with cargo pants and baggy shorts for a cool, bold contrast.

Safe to say, this style completely won me over, so I started keeping an eye out for the perfect one. The moment I spotted this gem from Mango, I knew it was exactly what I had in mind. It has that signature slanted silhouette, beautiful lace-trim detailing, and the ideal elongated shape that’s not too long or too short. I also love the extra lace paneling through the center—it adds even more texture and romance. Just so you know, I almost gatekept this because I knew it would pop off, but it felt right to share with my people!

I’ve become so obsessed with asymmetrical lace-trim tops that I’ve already started shopping for more. These are the other styles that I’m thinking of buying:
