In high school, junior year, I was around 17 years oldl, my mom started passing down pieces from her twenties. At the time, most of her pieces felt a little off (yelling at my former self now, considering that exact era is basically the blueprint for current-day fashion), but one clothing item was an immediate yes: the baby tee.
She gave me a striped one that instantly became a go-to of mine. It was simple, but somehow also elevated compared to a basic, solid T-shirt. Nowadays, I find I keep reaching for the same vibes, and the striped baby tee keeps delivering. And the one I’m drawn to the most is just $20 at Uniqlo.
The Uniqlo Mini Striped T-Shirt captures that throwback feel perfectly. The crew neckline brings a sporty ’90s touch, and the cropped length hits right at the waist—not too long, not too short. Plus, the cotton blend is soft, breathable, and actually comfortable enough for all-day wear. It checks every box—and honestly, it looks just like the one my mom handed down.
And the best part? That price tag. Honestly, that’s all the convincing I need to grab it in every color—it comes in a few striped options and some solid colorways too.
I’m planning to style mine this summer with capris and kitten heels for a slightly dressed-up feel (very Hailey Bieber-coded), or with low-rise jeans and torpedo sneakers for something more laid-back, but still put together. I will be wearing this non-stop and maybe we could be twins!
