I know everyone is big into blush these days, but I’m a bronzer girl through and through. My obsession started in eighth grade, when my bestie introduced me to Physician’s Formula Mosaic Bronzer, which I applied like powder foundation all over my face. In college, I channeled full-on Jersey Shore vibes (to be fair, that’s where I’m from) with layers upon layers of Wet N Wild and L.A. Girl bronzers. And in my early years as a beauty editor in my 20s, I would dust on (with a very heavy hand) Nars Laguna and Marc Jacobs Omega Coconut bronzers. I went through more compacts than most people do in a lifetime.

Today, as a 34-year-old beauty director, I’m still very much in love with bronzer, but my formula preferences and usage have evolved. Bronzer in 2026 isn’t about being Snooki-level tan; it’s about looking like you vacation in St. Barths. This is achieved via smart bronzer placement—no all-over smearing; strategic sweeping on the high points of the face instead—and elevated formulas that aren’t glittery or plagued by orange tones. And as far as elevated bronzers go, you won’t find better than the seven below.

Ahead, a deep dive into the seven best bronzers you can buy right now, according to me and three other Cosmo editors who love a good glow.

Pros

  • 2026 Holy Grail Beauty Award winner for "best powder bronzer"
  • Boasts 24-hour weartime
  • Contains hyaluronic acid and niacinamide to help improve skin texture

Cons

  • Some testers wish it had better color payoff

Why we love it: This is everything a good bronzer should be. The powder formula blends like a dream with no harsh lines and creates a warming effect on the skin that’s entirely realistic-looking, whether you quickly dust it on the tops of your cheeks for a hint of color or layer it on for just-back-from-vacation vibes. The chic packaging doesn’t hurt either.

Cosmo editor review: “This bronzer deposits just the right amount of pigment on skin to make it foolproof to use. I use a fluffy brush to quickly sweep it all over my face for a long-lasting sun-kissed look and never worry about my skin looking streaky or orange. The finish has just the slightest hint of shimmer to help give my skin a soft glow, too.” —LB

Pros

  • Doubles as a contour palette
  • Formula is streak-free and long-lasting

Cons

  • The most expensive option on the list

Why we love it: First, the texture: These cream-to-powder bronzers have a lovely cushion-like feel that wears beautifully on skin and are so easy to blend. As for the shades, there are four duos to choose from, and each pairing is designed to work together to mimic naturally sun-kissed skin, which is never one-dimensional (hence the two tones).

Cosmo editor review: “It took me a minute to figure out the best way to use this duo, but once I did, I was totally hooked. I use the lighter of the two shades on the tops of my cheeks and down the bridges of my nose (anywhere the sun would naturally hit my face) and then the darker shade like a contour along the perimeter of my face and below my cheekbones for a sculpting effect.” —LB

Pros

  • Boasts up to 8 hours of wear
  • Clean, talc-free formula
  • Noncomedogenic so it won’t clog pores

Cons

  • Some testers say it can get patchy on dry skin

Why we love it: Saie makes three different bronzers and they’re all good, but this one is by far the easiest to use. It’s a powder, but the baked pigments are so silky and fine that it goes on like a cream. Simply dust it on the high points of your face with a fluffy powder brush for a luminous, streak-free glow.

Cosmo editor review: “I’m usually wary of any bronzer that claims to be ‘radiant,’ but this makes skin perfectly bronze and glowy—zero excess shimmer, zero excess shine. Unlike so many glowy formulas that can end up emphasizing uneven skin texture, this sinks in seamlessly for a second-skin effect.” —LB

Airbrush Matte Bronzer

Pros

  • Compact is refillable
  • Testers say it takes forever to hit pan
  • Oversize compact comes with a mirror for easy on-the-go application

Cons

  • Some testers say they wish the formula was more pigmented

Why we love it: Even though this bronzing powder has a matte finish, nothing is drying or chalky about the formula. It’s infused with hyaluronic acid (a humectant that draws moisture to the skin) to help smooth skin and prevent caking. And the powder is so finely milled that it feels like silk on skin.

Cosmo editor review: “As someone who prefers to keep my makeup look as simple as possible, I love using this lightweight powder bronzer from Charlotte Tilbury to add some sun-kissed depth to my cheekbones, without compromising on that muddy look or an overly orange finish. The airbrushed finish of the bronzer makes it look like I just got a nice tan, and it layers seamlessly with any foundation I put under it and any blush I put over it.” —JASMINE HYMAN, ASSISTANT BEAUTY EDITOR

Cosmo editor review: “I have to admit I freaked out in the best possible way when I tried this new bronzer. I love it when brands really push innovation and create new ways for us to interact with products. Bronzer has always seemed pretty straightforward, but this formula feels completely unique. It has this pliable, putty-like texture, and the way it melts into the skin creates such an amazing sensorial experience while still delivering a high-performance finish. I’m super impressed by how easily I can create a warmer, sun-kissed look without the bronzer feeling too pronounced or overwhelming on my face.” —JULEE WILSON, BEAUTY EDITOR-AT-LARGE

  • 2026 Cosmo Holy Grail Beauty Award winner for “best liquid bronzer”

Cons

  • Some testers say the shade range isn’t ideal for cool skin tones

Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer Stick

Pros

  • Repeat Cosmo Readers’ Choice Beauty Award winner
  • Effortlessly glides over skin (include eyelids)
  • Water-resistant and noncomedogenic

Cons

  • Testers say the lid easily falls off so it can get messy in your makeup bag

Why we love it: I mean, who doesn’t love a swipe-and-go stick that imparts instant warmth and can sculpt and contour, too? This best-selling bronzing stick has a super-creamy texture that melts into skin but doesn’t necessarily disappear, so you get impact without caking or creasing.

Cosmo editor review: “One of my friends recently told me that she doesn’t use bronzer and wanted a good recommendation. I immediately pulled this out of my makeup bag and showed her how blendable and easy this one is. It’s practically foolproof, thanks to a creamy formula that quickly diffuses on my cheeks, forehead, nose, and jawline but sets down and stays put for hours. It also comes in such a wide shade range that I always feel confident suggesting it to people knowing there is a shade that’ll work for them.” —BETH GILLETTE, BEAUTY EDITOR
