Low-Maintenance Haircuts That Won’t Have You Trekking to the Salon Every Few Weeks

And they’re so easy to style too.

By

The best haircuts are the ones that don’t require me to head back to the salon in a few weeks for a touch-up. IDC if it’s simple or ~basic~, I just hate constant trims, and even worse, spending hours of my week staring at a mirror styling my hair. I’m lazy! What can I say! To help prep for my next style (and yours), I’ve rounded up six low-maintenance haircuts that genuinely make doing your hair a breeze, no matter your hair texture. From bobs to bangs to long layers, they’re all trendy and chic—just without the fuss.

It’s been months since your last trim? That’s a win in my book. Trust: These haircuts will actually make your life easier, whether they grow out easily and seamlessly or just give you ample hairstyle options for a quick ’do whenever you need it.

Long Layers

Not only are these layers effortless to grow out, but they can be styled in so many ways that it practically turns your haircut into a goldmine of looks. See Jenna Ortega, for example. A simple blowout with soft ends looks fresh with this cut. But she could easily add curls, waves, a more rounded finish with a flat-iron, throw it half-up, add accessories—the opportunities are endless.

The Italian Bob

If you have thick hair, a textured bob (like the “Italian bob” that TikTok is obsessed with) can help add some movement to your hair and seriously cut down on styling time. While a blunt bob is a fantastic haircut for fine hair, it can require consistent trimming with your hairstylist to make sure the ends are just right. With a few added layers, especially around your face, you get a little time back from salon visits every time they start to grow out.

Bangs With Face-Framing Layers

Historically, bangs don’t seem like that low-maintenance of a haircut. I mean, obviously, they’ve gotta be trimmed every so often so as not to obstruct your vision. But with a few face-framing pieces next to them, they grow out pretty seamlessly. Push apart into curtain bangs or all to one side to create a side bang. Then, if you decide to seriously grow them out, they’ll start to look more like long layers that blend with your other pieces. Tip: Invest in a thermal brush, like the one from Wavytalk—it’s the quickest way to style bangs, no matter how you do them.

Middle-Parted Lob

If you hate making trips to the salon, a lob is always a good idea, regardless of your hair type or texture. This mid-length cut is long enough to pull back (key for the lazy, ofc) but doesn’t have the same styling limitations as a short bob. With a middle part and blunt ends, it’s simple but chic.

Classic Shag

The ’70s are soooo back, including the shag. But did you know it’s actually a great low-maintenance cut? Here’s the thing: It looks even better as it starts to grow out—it’s more undone and piecey that way. There’s nothing precious about a shag. It’s meant to be effortless and boho. Keep some texturizing spray on hand whenever you want to rough up the texture.

6

Long Side-Swept Bang

Although a traditional bang might seem like a pain to constantly style, this side-part look is actually so easy. No matter what, you’ll always have a go-to look just by pushing your hair to one side. And because it’s a long piece, it doesn’t require the same TLC as a short bang (read: less heat styling).
