Welcome to Cosmo HQ Review, the corner of the internet where our team of beauty-obsessed editors shares their unfiltered, honest thoughts on the latest and greatest launches in skin, hair, makeup, and fragrance...just for you.
Dior has mastered the art of luxury beauty. While I may not be able to splurge on a Saddle Bag or a Lady Dior, I love indulging in a luxury makeup treat—whether that’s their viral lip oil or beloved backstage palettes. Once out of reach for many, Dior has made luxury beauty more accessible, appearing on Sephora shelves and creating iterations of viral products designed for a younger audience.
Most recently, Dior refreshed its Forever foundation line with upgraded formulas tailored to different skin types. Unlike many luxury brands that rely on a single hero base, Dior now offers several options: the Forever Skin Glow Foundation, a hydrating base with a dewy finish; the Forever Skin Wear Matte Foundation, for a soft-focus matte look; and the Forever Skin Multi-Use Foundation Stick, for versatile coverage.
Cosmo’s beauty team—comprised of three editors with different skin types—tested all three, and here’s our full breakdown of the Dior Forever foundations, including which one is best for each skin type.
Dior Forever Skin Glow Liquid Foundation
Foundations that contain skincare ingredients are no longer the impressive exception but rather the standard. And Dior elevated its skincare-makeup hybrid game with this formula, a heaven-sent for the dry-skinned. It’s loaded with skin-loving ingredients (like hyaluronic acid and glycerin to hydrate, as well as peptides, niacinamide, and vitamin E) to nourish your skin while providing coverage. It even has some chemical SPF protection (though it’s not enough to protect you fully, so be sure to still layer with your usual sunscreen). The formula is also non-comedogenic, so it’s safe for acne-prone skin, which is a major plus.
Cosmo review from Jasmine Hyman, assistant beauty editor
“When I get ready in the morning, I typically reach for a skin tint over a traditional foundation. As someone with super dry and sensitive skin, I loathe having something heavy sitting on my face all day and drying it out. But when I heard my favorite Dior concealer (that truly covers the most purple under-eye circles) was getting an upgraded glowy foundation to match, I was willing to trust it and give it a try.
Immediately upon blending out the Forever Skin Glow Foundation, I knew it wasn’t going to be thick and a chore to wear like others. It spreads out beautifully whether I use a sponge or a brush, and I only need two pumps to cover my entire face, including any hyperpigmentation or redness. It creates such a nice glowy finish, and as someone who’s pimple-prone, I deeply appreciate that it doesn’t clog pores. It’s a nice canvas for the rare occasion when I go full glam, but I love it as a glowy base with a blush and some concealer. I’ve officially added it to the list of the very few foundations I actually enjoy putting on my face all day.”
Dior Forever Skin Wear Blurring Matte Foundation
The matte sister to Skin Glow, this foundation is ideal for oily or acne-prone skin. It shares many of the same skincare ingredients, but sets to a smooth, shine-free finish. It also provides some SPF protection, is non-comedogenic, and delivers long-wear coverage.
Cosmo review from Beth Gillette, beauty editor
“It's kind of become my thing to test matte foundations, as the sole Cosmopolitan editor with skin so oily it reflects like glass. Most formulas look stunning and smooth when I apply them on top of hydrating serums and moisturizer, but then throughout the day, they look cakey, dry, or start to pill (the worst).
I noticed immediately that Dior's Forever Skin stays velvety soft on my skin all day long. It's probably the longest-wearing formula I've tested in a long time. I put it on my skin at 8 a.m. and barely need a touch-up before heading to dinner at 6 p.m. It effectively covers all my dark spots and acne, all without feeling too heavy either. Truth be told, it's the only foundation formula I've been wearing since I first tested it a few weeks ago.”
Dior Forever Skin Perfect Multi-Use Foundation Stick
The multi-use stick is part of the Forever line but focuses less on skincare infusion and more on convenience and versatility. It contains emollients and plant extracts to keep skin from drying out, and many users (including skin muse Hailey Bieber) blend it with a milky essence or toner for a more dewy finish. Keep reading for our thoughts (but spoiler alert, we love it so much that we crowned it the best stick foundation last year in our Holy Grail Beauty Awards).
Cosmo review from Lauren Balsamo, beauty director
“I don’t leave my house without this foundation stick in my bag. It evens out my skin tone and blurs breakouts and dark spots on the go so easily. I just swipe it where I need coverage (usually around my nose, under my eyes, and on my chin) and then blend with a fluffy foundation brush for airbrushed-looking skin in legit seconds. It works beautifully on my combo skin too—it’s got a natural finish that’s not too matte or too dewy.”
The Final Verdict:
Dior’s Forever foundation line offers multiple non-comedogenic formulas to suit different skin types and makeup preferences. For a dewy finish or for dry skin, the new Forever Skin Glow is the best choice. For a soft-focus matte look or for oily skin, reach for the Forever Skin Blurring Foundation. And if you prefer a traditional stick or have normal or combination skin, the Forever Skin Perfect Stick is ideal for quick application and buildable coverage. The line sets a new standard for luxury foundations by providing options for all skin types, rather than relying on a single “one-size-fits-all” approach.
