Well, it would seem 2024 is already winding down. If, like me, you find that reality fills you with terror and dread re: the relentless passage of time and/or the fact that you’ve yet to accomplish anything of value this year, might I suggest taking your mind off it with one of these extremely sexy movies that came out this year? Behold: the best sex movies of 2024.
Now, while not all of these picks are necessarily dripping with the kinds of sex scenes that could easily be mistaken for your favorite porn films, they all feature—at minimum!—some seriously steamy undertones. From the highly anticipated, heavily memed Challengers (aka the Zendaya threesome movie that didn’t quite deliver but is still quite sexy) to high-octane lesbians on the run in Drive-Away Dolls, allow these steamy flicks to provide the kind of viewing experience that will have you feeling some type of way. (You know, horny, mostly.)
So grab the popcorn, a date (or FWB, or best friend, or really anyone you won’t feel weird watching a sex scene in front of) and get ready to soak up the sexiest sex movies of 2024 in all their hot and heavy glory.
Babygirl (December 25)
A horny erotic thriller featuring a torrid (and kinky) love affair between an older, high-powered CEO and an intern? Sure, love to see it. But wait! There’s more! Said high-powered CEO in this case is a woman (played by Nicole Kidman) who gets entangled with her much younger male intern—which, of course, is feminism. JK, it’s not. But it has been a big year for reverse-gendered age gaps in movies (The Idea of You, anyone?) and, frankly, I don’t hate it!
Love Lies Bleeding
Gym-manager Kristin Stewart falls for a female body-builder and (in addition to plenty of non-sexual action) a whole lotta lesbian sex ensues. In fact, the film boasts what The Hollywood Reporter calls “passionate and intimate lesbian sex scenes,” including “oral sex, brief toe-sucking and one encounter that finds Lou instructing Jackie to masturbate while she watches from inches away.” Really, who among us can say no to some on-screen toe-sucking, however brief?

Ah yes, the Zendaya threesome movie that, uh, kinda wasn’t. (Sorry, spoilers.) But while this highly anticipated flick may not have delivered the literal threesome it heavily teased, trust that it does not skimp on the steaminess.
Drive Away Dolls
Margaret Qualley helms this queer masterpiece as the sexually confident Jaime alongside Geraldine Viswanathan’s more reserved Marian. The two embark on a road trip from Philadelphia to Tennessee, but things get a tad unhinged when they, well, cross paths with some criminals! Chaos ensues, as does—you guessed it—plenty of hot sex.
Mea Culpa
Four words: Tyler Perry erotic thriller. Yep, that’s a thing, and yep, it’s on Netflix. It also stars Kelly Rowland as a high-powered defense attorney representing a man accused of murdering his girlfriend so the drama level is high here, folks!
The Feeling That the Time for Doing Something Has Passed
Last Summer
A remake of the 2019 Danish film Queen of Hearts, this arthouse-vibey flick tells the tawdry tale of a woman who falls for her 17-year-old step-son (!!). You might consider this the 2024 version of last year’s May December. A bit, shall we say, problematique? Definitely. Bound to spark all kinds of discourse you’re not gonna wanna miss out on? Also yes.
