Welcome to OnlyVibes, the vibrator review series where we recommend a single sex toy that is really freaking great. Maybe you’ve never used a sex toy in your entire life, or maybe you’re a veteran with a nightstand drawer that practically buzzes on its own. No matter your level of masturbatory mastery, there’s a good chance you’ve had questions about what’s worth your money, especially since everything everywhere is more expensive these days, and vibrators are no exception.
Considering Cosmo’s almost 60-year history of putting your pleasure (and wallet) first, we’re firmly committed to ensuring you know just as much as we do about the pros and cons of every vibrator that comes across our desks. That’s why you can count on us to only recommend products we’ve personally tested and genuinely love. Ready to buzz in? Read on.
When you picture a vibrator, chances are your mind goes straight to the classic wand massager— you know, like the one Samantha Jones put in baby Brady’s chair to get him to stop crying during that one episode of Sex in the City. And listen, it’s a classic for a reason. Wand massagers are versatile, virtually unbreakable, extra powerful, and have a long-standing reputation for reliability (the OG Magic Wand has been around since the 1960s, after all).
As a sex and relationships editor whose literal job it is to recommend only the best sex toys for Cosmo readers (and also as a comfort-loving, admittedly-stubborn Taurus), I’ve seen—and tested—several new wands from brands that have missed the mark. But I can confidently say that’s absolutely not the case with We-Vibe’s Wand 2—a brand new wand massager that only enhances the qualities that make old school wands such fan favorites.
The TL;DR: Why We-Vibe’s Wand 2 Is Only-Vibes Approved ✅
- Its 10 versatile vibration patterns are actually good.
- The round head has conveniently curved edges that give you more direct stimulation.
- It’s easy to navigate so you’re not fumbling with controls while you’re about to finish—a real buzz-kill, pun intended.
How does the We-Vibe Wand 2 work?
It basically functions like your regular wand vibrator would—a long handle with buttons activates a strong, vibrating head. The Wand 2 is cordless, rechargeable, latex-free, made from body-safe silicone, and can run up to two hours on two-and-a-half hours of charging time. The controls are designed to be super easy to use, which is helpful when you’re playing with a toy that’s on the larger side, like this one (10 inches long, two inches thick). You’ve got your + button to turn the toy on and increase the intensity, your - button to turn the toy off and decrease the intensity, and one arrow on each side that lets you flip through the toy’s 10 vibration patterns.
Wand 2 also features a Smart Silence setting that makes it so the toy only activates when in contact with the skin—handy when you have less privacy and activated through a small button under the main controls. Plus, it’s app-enabled so you and your partner can play long-distance.
What’s so great about wand vibrators, anyway?
Wand vibrators are like the Cadillacs of vibrators; they’ve been around forever and are built to last. Even though they can be intense (some people think they’re a little too rumbly), they’re a great starter toy because they’re uncomplicated and only do one thing: Vibrate. Hard.
“The design is easy to understand—you see where the head is and where to hold the device, and you instinctively know how to handle it,” says sex educator Tim Lagman. “The great thing about the wand is that you don’t have to use it on just the genitals. You can use it on any part of your body, even for non-sexual play such as a massage.”
A good wand like the Wand 2 has several speeds and intensities so you can pick what works for you—you don’t have to go crazy on warp speed if you’d prefer something a little more chill. The round head of a wand vibe is also great for clitoral stimulation, yes, but also stimulation around the vulva, nipples, inner thighs…any erogenous zone that floats your boat.
What’s the difference between the Wand 2 and any other wand vibrator?
Not to brag (okay, fine, bragging a little bit), but I recently had the chance to visit Lovehoney’s research and development headquarters in Berlin, and to say I was impressed would be an understatement. I got to see first-hand just how much effort goes into the testing process, because when they make a claim about a toy, they mean it, and Wand 2 is no exception.
Most wand massagers have a bad reputation for being loud—a little too loud, like, powered by motors that didn’t really get the “privacy” memo. But Wand 2, which is marketed as “Whisper Quiet,” actually is surprisingly quiet and low key for a wand vibe. And I don’t just know this because I tried it myself (more on that later). I actually got to see the sound room where Lovehoney engineers test prototypes for noise levels. Each toy goes into a sound box equipped with a microphone and padded with high-quality sound-absorbing foam to measure sound power levels and frequency spectrums. This lets the engineers target specific areas for improvement and make adjustments so that the finished product (and the one they eventually mass-produce) actually is whisper-quiet.
The 120-minute runtime isn’t just talk, either. The engineering team also keeps the toys running non-stop to the full extent of the charge time. Not just once, but several times and with different prototypes, to ensure that even the customer who uses their toy the most still gets what they paid for.

Wand 2 Pros
1. All of the vibration patterns actually feel amazing.
A good vibrator will offer variety in both intensity (how fast or slow it vibrates) and pattern (the rhythm in which it vibrates). One of my biggest pet peeves is when a toy has a lot of patterns, but none of them are as interesting or effective as the classic and constant buzz of the original vibration setting. Not Wand 2! We-Vibe (one of Lovehoney’s flagship brands and the umbrella brand for Wand 2) has given us 10 pattern choices on this toy, and they’re all top-notch. Seriously. Even I (again, hi, Taurus) was into the quick stop-and-go and crescendo wave patterns. They’re sufficiently tease-y and great for edging on the baseline intensity, but trust me when I say that magic happens if you turn up the intensity and let it do its thing. I tested the toy solo three times in one week and each session felt like a totally new experience; a hard goal to achieve with the same toy over and over again. Wand 2 made spicing up my routine easy by giving me tons of options. Love that for me.
2. The curved ridges in the head will hit all your sweet spots.
Most traditional wand vibrators come with a simple round head that’s great when you want to stimulate a larger surface area. But the head on Wand 2, while still mostly round, features slight edges that are perfect for more targeted stimulation, so you can get the best of both worlds by just switching up the angle. I personally found that the edges were great for getting into whatever ridge or crevice of my body craved more—like using a finger to stimulate versus an entire hand. It might not seem like a super prominent feature, but if you, like me, live for a clitoral suction vibrator or a powerful bullet, this feature makes all the difference.
3. It feels luxurious and high-quality.
Wand 2 feels like more than just a vibrator—it’s a powerful piece of tech, and you get what you pay for (also more on that later!). The silicone is smooth on the skin and takes to water-based lube nicely (I used Woo More Play’s Shag Juice). It’s also a little heavy—almost a pound—but not so heavy that you get tired of holding it (you’re too busy feeling amazing, tbh). It connects to the We-Vibe app, so you and your partner can play long-distance. I tried it with my partner from another room and had no connectivity issues whatsoever—a refreshing change for app-controlled vibes that tend to be annoying and often glitchy to connect. And did I mention it’s also waterproof? IPX7, to be exact, which means it’s submersible for up to one meter for 30 minutes. Shower sex, anyone?
Wand 2 Cons
1. I found it to be better for solo play than partnered play.
If you’re looking for a toy to act as a handy clitoral assist during penetrative sex, the Wand 2 might not be for you. I mean, it might, depending on what position you’re in and your particular body type, but it wasn’t for me. I’m five feet tall and my limbs aren’t super long, so there wasn’t a ton of space between me and the bed to make this toy work comfortably in reverse. I found missionary to be easier but it was still challenging to hold the wand in place. Does it work? Yes! Is it comfortable? If you’re taller and down to play a little Twister until you find what works for you, it could be!
On the other hand, Wand 2 was ideal for solo play. It was so fun to experiment with all the different settings, and it actually felt like play, not like a race to an orgasm. Don’t get me wrong—this toy will get you to the finish line. But you’ll have fun doing it, especially if you like a more drawn out experience with space for lots of edging and teasing along the way.
2. I struggled with the Smart Silence function.
Activated by a tiny button under the main navigation panel on the Wand 2 handle, Smart Silence is a setting that makes your toy vibrate as normal, but only when in contact with the skin. This is handy (ha) if you have less privacy or are maybe about to get walked-in on by your roommate who refuses to knock. Kind of like an emergency brake, if you will. But even on Smart Silence, the toy wouldn’t start rumbling unless I put pressure on the handle, not the head—not ideal when the head is the primary point of contact, and especially if you’re holding the toy closer to the base of the wand instead of the middle.
3. It’s pricey if you’re new to vibrators.
Wand 2 is beginner friendly in almost every sense of the word… except for the cost. At $149, it’s definitely an investment, and not entirely one I would recommend you buy into if you’re still trying to figure out what sort of sex toys work best for you. But if you’re a seasoned wand lover and you’re craving something different for your collection, look no further—this is the one.
Again, you get what you pay for; $149 is steep for a sex toy, but not uncommon for high-performing tech that’s innovative and varied, and the overall build, quality, and features make it a great buy.
Overall Conclusion: Wand 2 is worth it if you love wands but you’re craving something different.
There is so much that’s good about Wand 2. From the quality, to the variety of features, to the settings that basically guarantee you’ll find something that does it for you, chances are you won’t need another sex toy like this ever again. (Not to mention We-Vibe’s two-year warranty lets you replace your Wand 2 in case of any manufacturing defects.) If you’re a “I’ll take one of each” kind of sex toy collector, this is the only wand you really need—trust.
