It’s been over three years since they announced their separation, but still fans are wondering: Did Tyler Stanaland and Brittany Snow’s split have anything to do with Alex Hall? On Selling the OC season 4, we finally got some answers when Tyler and Alex had their long-awaited reunion and discussed what role Alex played (if any) in Tyler and Brittany’s eventual divorce. (Spoilers ahead, obviously!)
During episode 3, the two run into each other at fellow cast member Gio Helou’s broker’s open (marking their first time seeing each other since Tyler left the Oppenheim Group in 2023!), and Alex asks if they can finally address the “elephant in the room.”
She continues, “It has to do with your wife going on a very, very, very public podcast and saying things that aren’t literal and they’re beating around the bush. And the reality is the whole speculation has been around you and I. And I truly believe that there’s a possibility that your ex wife thought that I was the other woman in the equation.”
When Alex asks whether it was true that Tyler was seeing “somebody else” around the same time, he admits he “was dating other people” before his divorce was finalized in 2023, to which Alex replies, “That’s what I’m saying—I took the fucking fall for that.”
As a reminder: Back in September 2022—less than a month after the release of Selling the OC season 1—the news broke that Tyler and his wife of two years, Brittany Snow, had decided to separate. The reported reason? Tyler’s flirty relationship with Alex.
After the divorce was finalized, Brittany spilled all the breakup tea during a tell-all interview on Call Her Daddy in March 2024. “I was not aware of a lot of things, and I’ll say that,” she told host Alex Cooper. “So, I will say, what people think happened, happened.”
She was even specifically asked about Tyler and Alex’s season 2 hot tub kiss and said, “Of course I saw it. Watched it with my dog. Whatever. Now I can laugh about it. It’s insane and it’s so funny.”
Alex Hall then entered the chat, hopping on Instagram to post a reel of herself in Lake Como with the text, “Imagine talking shit about me in your ugly town to your stinky friend and I’m just over here having breakfast in Lake Como before having a massage.”
Regarding her tense convo with Tyler on the latest season, Alex told Us Weekly, “I think we both said what we needed to say, and then some. We’re both just in really good places in our lives right now, and I don’t think there’s much more than that we can ask for other than that.”
For the record, Alex is currently dating a new guy, Ian Young, while Tyler announced his engagement to Hannah Morrissey in October. And it seems Brittany is in a good place as well, as she reportedly just got engaged to Hunter Moreno.
