Selena Gomez is having none of it with those Hailey Bieber feud rumors. After Hailey’s comments about the beauty space were misconstrued in her cover story interview with WSJ Magazine, the Rare Beauty founder has taken to her Instagram Stories to put all the rumors to rest on October 17. Without naming names in her since-deleted post, Selena wrote asked fans to “just leave the girl alone,” adding that “she can say whatever she wants.”
“Doesn’t affect my life whatsoever. It’s just about relevance not intelligence. Be kind. All brands inspire me. There is room for everyone. And hopefully we can all stop,” she continued in her since-deleted post.
Unfortunately, as she was attempting to put a stop to ongoing feud theories, some fans interpreted her “relevance, not intelligence” comment as shade toward the Rhode founder.
The latest drama all began when WSJ reported that Hailey replied to a question about Selena’s Rare Beauty (though her publicist advised her to skip the question). “It’s always annoying being pitted against other people. I didn’t ask for that,” she said. “When people want to see you a certain way and they’ve made up a story about you in their minds, it’s not up to you to change that.”
When the outlet asked Hailey whether she “feels competitive” with other brands on the shelves at Sephora, she explained that she feels most competitive with herself, saying, “I think there is space for everybody. I don’t feel competitive with people that I’m not inspired by.”
After her cover story was published, sources “connected” to the model then told TMZ, “What she said was in reference to other skincare brands—not a particular person.” They also insisted that Hailey “did NOT discuss Selena in the article” and that her quotes were “not in response to anything involving Selena.”
On October 18, both A-listers attended the fifth annual Academy Museum Gala—the same event they posed at together in 2022 to squash rumors of any beef between them at the time. This year, they didn’t seem to cross paths amid all the reported drama.
