Sometimes things collide in such a perfect way that it almost seems like kismet. For example, the brief period where Taylor Swift and Harry Styles (my divorced parents) were dating. Or the fact that Sandy Liang, the iconic nostalgic, girly brand that the ‘It’ girls of NYC truly can’t get enough of, is releasing a collab with GAP at prices I can afford on a writer’s salary.
GAP has had a solid run of iconic collabs over the past couple years (DOEN, Beis, and Cult Gaia, just to name a few) and they’ve all sold like hotcakes. If I had to bet money on it, I’d say there’s a good chance the Sandy Liang collab will sell out even faster than their ever-popular, so-good-it-came-back-a-second-time DOEN collab. And when you see the drop, you’ll know why I’m saying this.

In my opinion, the hero piece is the bow trench—a GAP trench coat, infused with the brand’s classic heritage DNA, with a massive, fabulous bow on the back that could only be Sandy’s touch. It retails for just $228 (a steal, compared to other Sandy Liang coats that’ll run you $500+) and I can’t imagine it’ll be in stock for long.
Other standout pieces from this whimsical collaboration include a faux fur zip-up with a bambi-inspired deer print (everyone’s doing cheetah, so I love this venture off the beaten path), denim jackets with a fur collar, and some leather sherpa moments.

The two crisp button-up blouses with peter pan collars also caught my eye. That type of collar hasn't had a mainstream comeback since the 2010s, but if Sandy brings it back, best believe it’s going to be everywhere within a year or two. And of course, there’s a classic GAP sweatshirt with the word SANDY across the front.

It’s incredible that I get to co-create with such an iconic brand that I treasured so much as a child, yet is still so relevant today,” said Sandy Liang in a press release. "I wanted to take the pieces that meant something to me as a kid and reimagine them through my lens today — celebrating girlhood in all its forms, while honoring the iconic styles that make Gap so timeless.”
