Our Couple Spotting series? Oh, she’s thriving. The mission remains simple: Spot the cutest real-life couples, get the scoop on how they met, and capture swoonworthy photos that remind us all that love isn’t dead—in fact, it’s really, really good-looking.
We’ve hit up Manhattan (twice), London, Mexico City, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Brooklyn to shoot couples (and throuples) who’ve got the It factor.
For our eighth installment, we set our sights on yet another iconic Manhattan gem: Harlem, baby. The timing? Chef’s kiss. This year’s Met Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” made it feel like destiny.
We asked the pairs we scouted all the juicy stuff: how they met, how long they’ve been together, and what makes their love go the distance. And after talking to these completely smitten duos, we can confirm—once again—that true love is not only real, it sometimes comes in the form of matching denim outfits. As it should.
Liisi + Karl

Liisi: We were just in Costa Rica...
Karl: ...at an Airbnb in the middle of nowhere. There were hornet’s nests on the doors.
Liisi: Every time we needed to get groceries, it was treacherous.
Karl: She is not a fan of bugs.
Liisi: Who likes hornets?!
Karl: I’m just happy to provide value in this relationship. I can handle hornets—that I can do.
Nicolas + McKenzie

McKenzie: We cook together, taking turns—one night, I’ll be in charge and he’ll be my sous chef, then we’ll switch.
Nicolas: I like your tacos and that kale salad with the salmon. But more than cooking, I just really like watching Sex and the City with you.
McKenzie: Episode 1, season 1, he was like, “This kind of sucks.” I was like, “No, you have to watch from the beginning to appreciate the later seasons.” He likes it now.
Nicolas: I do. I like the main one with the curly hair.
McKenzie: But I’m 1,000 percent a Charlotte.
Christopher + Kevin

Kevin: We met while working at a cabaret club.
Christopher: We bonded over being musical theater people and became really close friends really fast. But we didn’t look at each other that way...
Kevin: ...until we did.
Christopher: We felt it coming.
Kevin: I was in love with him before we said we were boyfriends.

Seth: We love shopping!
Madison: It’s a problem.
Seth: We’ve toned it down, but at one point, it was, like, the only thing we did together.
Madison: Which was not great for our wallets. We both think the other looks great
in everything, so we’d always cosign a purchase.
Seth: What do we say about investment pieces though?
Madison: That’s different. We have a Marni sweater—he’ll wear it; I’ll wear it. So it was essentially half off.
Meron + Alex

Meron: And then a party our friend is DJing at Soho House. We’re meeting up with a bunch of friends to dance the night away.

Meron: He’s such a good dancer.
