• Details on Prince William and Kate Middleton's Forest Lodge lease have been revealed.
  • The lease has a definitive end date, which means Wills and Kate could eventually have to move out of the property.
  • Reminder: the couple want to stay at Forest Lodge when William is King—instead of living at Buckingham Palace.

Prince William and Kate Middleton recently moved into their new mansion in Windsor, and everyone's been stressing that it's their "forever home." Meaning, the couple are not moving into Buckingham Palace once William levels up to King.

But apparently "forever" has a time limit, because new details of William and Kate's lease reveal their potential move-out date.

New details released by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the House of Commons (via People) state, "Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales hold a 20-year non-assignable lease with The Crown Estate for Forest Lodge, commencing 5 July 2025. Previously a 'grace and favour' residence, it was returned to The Crown Estate by HM Queen Elizabeth II in the early 1990s and has since been let on the open market. Following an approach from HRH The Prince of Wales and discussions with the Royal Household, the Commissioners were asked to consider entering into a lease of the Property to TRH The Prince and Princess of Wales for use as their primary private residence."

So...basically William and Kate's lease is up on July 5, 2045. Though presumably there's an option to renew, considering William will be King and The Crown Estate literally controls the property!

Either way, reminder that a source told the Daily Mail, "This is for the long term and it's their intention to stay in Forest Lodge once he becomes king."
