In a major heartbreak, Stacey Abrams, who was running to become the first black female governor of Georgia—and whose race against Republican Brian Kemp has still not been officially called—conceded that she cannot win.

Abrams' historic candidacy attracted a ton of celebrity endorsements, with everyone from Oprah to Offset pulling for her. But her campaign wasn't the only one with famous friends. Taylor Swift broke her politics-free streak to endorse two Democrats in Tennessee. Beyoncé made a last-minute plea for Beto O'Rourke, who was running for a Senate seat in Texas.

But does star power actually have any power to win elections? Here, an unscientific investigation.
