The flags at AMC are half-mast, your group chat is in a state, and you've already watched Practical Magic as a coping mechanism twice. In other words, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are getting divorced after 19 years of marriage. And the news cycle around the split has been chaotic to say the least—with multiple articles claiming Nicole wants to "save the marriage," only for her to file for divorce a day later amid reports that Keith is dating a "younger woman" (ugh, I can't...).
Here's a breakdown of what's going on.

News Broke, the Narrative Was *Heavy* on Nicole Wanting to Save the Marriage
Nicole and Keith's separation hit the news. TMZ was the first to report the split, claiming that the pair had been "been living apart" since early summer, and that Nicole was "holding the family together through this difficult time since Keith has been gone." (Note: Keith's been on tour.)
Other scoop from various outlets?
- A source told People that "She didn’t want this. She has been fighting to save the marriage."
- Page Six spoke to an insider who said Nicole "did not want the separation and was trying to save things."
- E! News reported that "Nicole did not want to part ways with Keith and has been trying to save the marriage since they opted to live apart in the beginning of the summer."
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail dropped intel on what went wrong, speaking to someone who said "Keith never sees Nicole, either she is filming or he is on tour. There was a lot of love between the two and they might not divorce. They been together for decades so there is a world which they can reconcile, but the way their pairing is now, they are not a couple."
This person added, "The intimacy isn't there, they are just going through the motions [of being married]. If this separation gets them back together, that would be amazing, but Keith had to call her out that he isn't happy. She was blindsided, but we shall see how things go during the holiday season and his upcoming birthday [next month]. They have some work to do."

News Broke That Keith Has a New Girlfriend, Nicole Filed for Divorce
The next day started out with pretty much the same narrative in the press. A source kicked things off telling People that "Their lives were moving in different directions, and once he quietly set up his own place, it felt like the writing was on the wall. People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable."
But a few hours later TMZ dropped the bombshell that Keith and Nicole's "inner circle" think he's "already involved with a new woman." Sources close to Nicole added that "all the signs point to the fact Keith is with another woman. Let's just say, Nicole doesn't dispute that, but she's still shocked over it. It's all over Nashville."
A few hours after THAT, Nicole straight up filed for divorce, citing the classic "irreconcilable differences." TMZ reported that the document was signed by both Keith and Nicole, and included a parenting / child support plan. It seems like a divorce was in the works for a while, since a notary for Keith signed on August 29, and for Nicole on September 6.
Page Six spoke to a source who said Nicole was "devastated" and "feels betrayed" by how everything went down, and an insider told People that "Keith has not been honest. She wanted to save their marriage and believed that she could, but it seems he's already moved on. It's devastating to her. She's shocked."
They also noted that "their split is turning dramatic" and that Nicole is "hurt and feels betrayed." A source close to Keith added that he's "been making questionable choices for some time now and this was not the case of them just drifting apart."
Oh, and the Daily Mail went ahead and chimed in with a source who said "The rumor is that he's with a younger woman in the business. It's all everyone is talking about. Everyone wants to know who, but so far, that's a mystery."

Sources Claimed Nicole Knows the "Other Woman," Keith's Changed Song Lyrics Emerged
Fans realize that Keith changed the lyrics to "The Fighter" (a song inspired by Nicole), referencing his new guitar player, Maggie Baugh, instead.
In a clip that Maggie posted (with the caption "Did he just say that 👀"), Keith switched the lyrics from "When they're tryna get to you, baby, I'll be the fighter" to "When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player."
A source also told Rob Shuter's ShuterScoop that "Nicole wanted to fight for them, but Keith had already checked out—and she knew why. It wasn’t about distance, schedules, or bad habits. It was about another woman. And Nicole knows who she is." Another insider added, "She’s not naïve. She heard the stories, she saw the signs. At some point, the truth becomes impossible to ignore. She’s not going to live as anyone’s second choice."
Meanwhile, another insider told ShuterScoop that "Nicole feels blindsided not just by Keith but by the silence of the whole group. She can’t understand how no one gave her even a hint—not Blake, not anyone." And ANOTHER noted that "Looking back, Nicole sees it now. The jokes, the awkward pauses, the looks—they were signs. She just didn’t want to believe them. She thought they were her friends too. Now she feels betrayed by the whole world Keith came from."
Oh, and over on Us Weekly a source said "Nicole had been trying to get them to work on their marriage and did not want this to get out to the public. She didn’t tell many friends what was really going on with them and was holding this in for months. They had both been spending a lot of time apart due to work commitments and have been living separate lives. Her and Keith were not on the same page."

More footage of Keith and Maggie dropped....
TMZ unearthed new footage of Keith Urban and his guitar player, Maggie Baugh. Filmed back in April while performing "The Fighter," Keith points at Maggie right before singing, "I was born to love you."
TMZ also reported that Keith's "close confidents" think "this is a midlife crisis," and note he also fired his band of 25 years in January.
That's all for now, but we'll keep this updated.
