What happened with Billy and Ashleigh on Love Is Blind: UK?
There were some doubts from early on for Army physical trainer Billy, 35, and cabin crew manger Ashleigh, 30.
Billy explained to Ashleigh in the pods that he didn't see it working with her busy work schedule, however, she reassured him that she'd be able to move to ground 9 to 5 work, so that they could start a family.
Their next bump in the road came during a shopping trip when Ashleigh wanted to add items some items to the trolley, including sweet snacks. As he follows a more strict diet plan of meat and veg, Billy didn't see the need and it caused some tension between them.
Ashleigh later opened up to Billy about being bullied as a child for her weight, which created an uncomfortable relationship with food. She said that as she's grown older she's learned to love her body and she has a positive relationship with food, allowing herself treats along the way.
They managed to move past this, but Billy still had concerns about getting married, telling Ashleigh ahead of the big day that he still wasn't 100 percent.
During the stag do, he told Kal that he'd say no if he had to make the decision there and then, and in a preview for the weddings, he could be heard telling his mum: “To be honest, mum, I have to be selfish up there. I hope she can forgive me.”
Nevertheless, the duo said "I do" on their wedding day, with Ashleigh adding: "You are the most kind and respectful man I've ever met and I'm so lucky to have found you."
After the ceremony, Billy explained that the only thing that had been holding him back was fear.
"I knew as soon as I seen you today, there’s only one outcome I ever wanted," he said. "You are my future, Ash." At their reception, they celebrated their union with some Guinness.
Are Love Is Blind: UK’s Ashleigh and Billy still together?
No—they are no longer together.
Despite tying the knot on the show, things didn't work out for them and they split three months after their wedding on January 1st.
Speaking exclusively to Cosmopolitan UK about their relationship, Ashleigh explained, "Him saying 'yes' was like the biggest reassurance that I needed for him to now say, 'Let's go for this Ash, you know the job thing is not really a problem'. I wish he had say 'no' to me because I think he's driven by fear and I think in the moment he got carried away and really wasn't ready for marriage again. Having been married before, I really thought he'd make the right decision for me and him.
"So we kicked off married life, I guess I felt like this is where we should be and he just was very much dating me. It didn't feel like we were a committed team. I was always reassuring him and saying, 'Oh, it's three months time, we should look to the next stage in our marriage. Will that be moving down south?' which he committed to in the pods, but when we left the pods and the cameras were away, he didn't want to go near the south."
She continued, "So, I feel like I was let down by Billy, I didn't feel like it was a marriage when we left and there were obstacles that again I was willing to fight for and work on, like we've said in marriage there's differences and there are going to be compromises that you're going to have to make but he wasn't willing to and then it broke down in early January, similar time to Sarover and I drove up two and a half hours to have that conversation with him because I didn't want to meet half way, he couldn't have come down to me, it wasn't the right setting at home and he just said he didn't see a future with me and he was out. For three months, really? Is that a man who wants a real marriage? I said, 'Let's fight for this. Let's make it work,' and he was way checked out."
During the reunion, Billy and Kal denied that they'd "egged" each other on, as the women pointed out that the breakups happened so close and the wording was very similar.
