On the heels of Love Is Blind season 8 cast members Kylie Schuelke and Brian Sumption coming out as one of the Love Is Blind couples the season didn’t show, another unseen engagement has been brought to light. Apparently, after breaking things off with Devin Buckley, Brittany Dodson, aka B Dot, got engaged in the pods—and we didn’t even get to see it!
Culture journalist StorytimeWithRikkii broke the news on her Reality Receipts Podcast this week and has since brought the bombshell to her TikTok. According to Rikkii, Brittany ended the pod phase of the experiment engaged to Mo Ndiaye, who didn’t get much screen time in the finished edit. After their engagement, the two reportedly chose not to go on the honeymoon trip but continued to date.
Citing a reliable source, Rikkii said that Mo had never dated a Black woman before and “said he wouldn’t be able to ‘get there’ with a Black woman,” leading B Dot to call off the engagement. Brittany has yet to comment, but Mo did repost Rikkii’s video on his Instagram and commented on Rikkii’s post with laughing emojis.
Brittany and Mo’s unhappy ending might explain why they weren’t featured at all in the final edit, but it still feels like a missed opportunity. Not only was Brittany one of the more compelling castmembers of the season—the inclusion of her and Mo would have (at the very least) ensured that this season wasn’t so overwhelmingly white. And the fact that they decided not to go on the post-engagement trip would have been such an interesting twist.
So, why cut their romance out entirely? Well, speaking on Reality Receipts Podcast, Rikkii said that she had been told that Mo “was a little problematic” in the pods, a claim Mo denied in the Instagram comments. “Problematic? And who ended what? 👀😂,” he wrote below a show clip on Instagram. But the drama didn’t stop there.
Fellow Love Is Blind season 8 castmember Molly Mulaney then responded to Mo’s comment, writing, “Oh, you don’t remember the problematic things you said? ...That’s crazy since you were telling me weeks ago how bad you felt about them.” She also called into question his claim that he broke off the engagement, adding, “If we’re going to get into semantics about the breakup I have A LOT to say about that too so don’t even try it.”
Mo pushed back, casting doubt on the idea that Brittany turned down the post-engagement trip. “She gave up our honeymoon spot? So someone else could go...What?! Was problematic to production so they cut all his scenes? Huh?!...That is all news to me,” he wrote. He also insisted that the fact that he was allowed to continue through the pod phase was proof that production liked him—though his edit would certainly suggest otherwise! And he claimed he only apologized to Molly because he was “cornered at a bar.”
He concluded, “As far as who broke up with who...well I’ll leave that one alone no need to go there. Everybody got their side but I know my truth 🤷🏿♂️ I am glad you have A LOT to say about me and my own experience though.”
Well, okay then. At this point, Netflix really only has one option: Release the B Dot cut. It’s what the people want!
