Kal and Sarover's Love Is Blind: UK wedding day looked like something out of a fairytale, as the duo beautifully honored their cultural roots—Sarover stunned in a traditional Indian dress for the second half of the ceremony, while Kal made a vibrant entrance dancing to a Pakistani band, along with his brother.

Fast-forward to the present day, and that image couldn't be further from their reality, with the couple calling it quits just three months after their big day.

A year on from filming, Sarover is opening up about what caused their relationship to break down.

Speaking exclusively to Cosmopolitan UK, the medical company owner, 29, explained: “It only lasted a few months. Marriage takes compromise, marriage takes two people together, two people making decisions, two people [that] go through everything together. And if I'm going to be honest, Kal didn't see me as an equal. I didn't feel like I had a voice in that relationship, I didn't feel like I had a say and there was no compromise.”

She continued: “At one point it got to the 2nd of January, and he ended it without any conversation. It was, ‘This is the decision. This is the best for us,’ and I was blindsided. I just got married. It had literally been three months and I didn't know what happened. I didn't know what went wrong and even when I tried to ask him later, it's been horrible. I've got stuff like, he wasn't in love, he's saying that ‘nothing lasts forever,’ and it just goes on and on. The Kal I fell in love with is not the Kal that I was married to when we came into the outside world.”

Asked if she's still in contact with Kal, Sarover explained: “I tried for months to get answers out of him and he wasn't respectful and he never gave me those answers because I wanted to communicate [and say], ‘Let's have a conversation. This is a real marriage.’ And because of that, I can't have communication with someone that doesn't respect me, so there's no communication there at all.”

Gym owner Kal, 32, and Sarover connected instantly in the pods. Despite their different cultures—Sarover is Indian and Kal is half English and half Pakistani—the duo decided to put their cultural differences and the complex history between India and Pakistan aside, choosing instead to focus on their connection and build a future together.

Kal proposed in the pods and things continued to go well for them on the outside. During the couples' retreat, Kal admitted that Sarover isn't his usual type and he often goes for blonde white women with blue eyes. This got Sarover's back up, but they were able to move past it.

They then met one another's loved ones and both their family's gave their approval of the marriage, although Kal's brother doubted that the relationship would last, joking that he'd bet his life on it.

Looking back on the situation, would Sarover have done anything differently?

“I think what I would have done differently was maybe given it a bit more time because I think if we got to the altar and we both said, ‘No, let's date,’ his true colors would have come out without me getting married,” she said.
