Making your little apartment feel like a home is a process. Choosing furniture for all the spaces (living room! dining nook! bedroom!) in a way that makes them feel cohesive and like an actual reflection of your adult self and personal taste—versus being thrown together like your college apartment—is a real journey. Add on top of that the fact that there are a jillion different furniture brands to choose from and you have the recipe for complete and utter overwhelm that can leave you wanting to tap out before you even get going.

I am currently eyebrow deep in this journey myself, so believe me, I get it. If you, too, are in the midst of sourcing Big Ticket Furniture Items or have just been on the hunt for a new couch, coffee table, or media cabinet, then I went ahead and rounded up a bunch of top-tier furniture brands that should be on your shopping list—you know, to make your life easier (thank me later <3). I personally can vouch for these brands and use most of them in my own space, but in case that’s not enough, I tapped a few interior designers to back me up so you know these picks are *chef’s kiss*.

Our Favorite Furniture Brands of 2024!

This list includes some entry-level furniture brands that won’t break the bank, as well as a few others that all your HGTV faves use in their designs. Either way, they all have items that are super chic and functional (because yes, you need to have both!) and cater to a variety of price points. So keep scrolling for the best furniture brands that are beyond worth putting in your home.

1
Best Maximalist Furniture

Anthropologie

Anthropologie

Pros

  • Everything is stunning and made from quality

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Popular pieces tend to sell out quickly

Anthropologie’s AnthroLiving practically owns one of the chambers to my heart—I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything here that I don’t love. “They have an assortment of statement furniture, from dining chairs and coffee tables to bedding and wallpaper,” says interior designer Amber Guyton, founder of Blessed Little Bungalow. You literally can’t go wrong with anything here, but some of the brand’s most awe-inducing pieces are their storage cabinets. Their glass hutches and storage cabinets are absolute stunners, and you also can’t go wrong with any of their bookcases, bar cabinets, or consoles either. Truly, these pieces give a whole lot of form to much needed function. And what’s better than putting all your pretty things on display in something equally as gorgeous?

2
Best Sustainable Brand

Sabai

Sabai

Pros

  • Super easy to assemble
  • Made to order
  • Slipcovers available to easily switch ups styles and vibes
  • Crafted to last nearly forever
  • Made with 100% recycled fabrics

Cons

  • Shipment times can get up to 4 weeks

Not only are Sabai’s couches insanely chic and comfortable, they are truly so thoughtfully designed. The materials don’t have any harsh, forever chemicals—they use real wood from responsibly managed forests, and you can easily add extra pieces to couches as your family and home grows. One of my favorite elements of their sustainability model is their replacement program. If your pet ruins just one leg of your couch, you kind of just have to live with it. But with Sabai, you can get just that arm or cushion repaired and have your furniture back in top shape again.

Best Fashion-Forward Brand

Tov Furniture

Tov Furniture

Pros

  • Literally every single thing is so cute and fun
  • Tons of bold statement pieces

Cons

  • Can get kinda expensive

The thing about Tov pieces is that you absolutely can’t take your eyes off of them. Each one is so glamorous and one-of-a-kind and commands the attention of whatever room they’re in. From your bedroom to your dining room and entryway, the brand has something special. I especially love their home office pieces. This is a space that can get boring and redundant fast, but Tov has put a fresh spin on work desks that are so bold and fun, it actually makes you want to plop down and tackle your to-do list.

4
Best Neutral Furniture

Burrow

Burrow
Now 20% Off

Pros

  • Easy to assemble
  • So many pieces that will blend with a variety of styles

Cons

  • Can get $$$

Burrow is another beloved brand that is oozing with modern pieces and neutral colorways. “Burrow has fantastic furniture that effortlessly balances aesthetics, sustainability, and minimalism,” says interior architect Inara Tirkkonen, art team lead at Redecor. She’s really fond of their extendable dining table because it’s super functional. “Whether you’re having an intimate dinner for two or hosting a lively gathering, the table adapts to your needs seamlessly,” she says. I particularly love their Dram Bar Cart since it’s such a fun change of pace from the usual gold kind overtaking my FYP.

5
Best Bedroom Furniture

Castlery

Castlery

Cons

  • 14-day return policy kind of short compared to other brands
  • Assembly requires two people

Castlery has nearly everything you need, but it’s their bedding furniture that gets so much love time and time again. From low-profile boucle frames with built-in headboards to platform and storage beds, there’s something here for every room design. And the best part? These are priced pretty reasonably—beds of similar qualities can be much more expensive, but with these from Castlery, you get chic, subtle statement pieces that will keep your budget mostly in check.

6
Best Contemporary Modern Furniture

West Elm

West Elm

Pros

  • Pieces can be widely available with both online and in-person options

Cons

  • Expensive

We all know and love West Elm and it’s a crowd favorite for a reason, likely thanks to all of its super-modern pieces that boast clean lines and sharp functionality, says Tirkkonen, adding that “their pieces are more contemporary, but they still retain that handcrafted feel.” And that latter part makes a lot of sense because the brand only uses excellent materials. “They offer sustainable wood and upholstered furniture that will stand the test of time without sacrificing functionality,” says Guyton. “The chairs, in particular, are exquisite,” adds Tirkkonen.

Best Coastal Chic Furniture

Serena & Lily

Serena & Lily

If you’re a lover of all things natural, like rattan, rafia, grasscloth, jute, and more, then Serena & Lily was made with you in mind. The company’s bread and butter are these materials, usually featured in pieces that you’d see in an upscale waterfront property or a Nancy Meyers movie set. And if you’re thinking this specific aesthetic isn’t for you, that might not necessarily be the case. “Serena & Lily’s natural wovens and bone inlay mirrors, along with anything covered in grasscloth, is right up my alley and makes for a beautiful counterpoint to some of the more colorful and eclectic pieces I opt for when designing,” says Shauna Jones, owner and lead designer of Shauna Glenn Design.

8
Best Budget Friendly

World Market

World Market

Pros

  • Tons of great options

Cons

  • Pieces might not be easy to replace or find again

World Market is one of my favorites and it’s low-key a sleeper pick. Their selection is quality—from fun and tasteful holiday collections to top-tier accents and seating, there are so many wonderful pieces at this retailer that will make your home so vibey and unique. It’s also a go-to for Jones in her work. “The eclectic and global style at World Market makes it so easy to incorporate into most design aesthetics,” she says. “The furniture is good quality and well-priced, and the selection is both creative and practical at the same time.” Not sure what else you can ask for!

Best Customizable Brand

Albany Park

Albany Park

Pros

  • Fair pricing on a wide selection
  • Custom made to order
  • Lifetime warranty
  • 30-day in home trial period for all pieces

Albany Park is a favorite among Cosmo’s lifestyle team. I have their low-profile Barton Sofa in a buttery smooth camel velvet and I damn near haven’t gotten off of it since receiving it. All of their couches and chairs are so aesthetic but still functional for everyday use and comfort. Each one is available in an enormous range of fabrics—like linen, chenille, boucle, leather, velvet and more!—that come in an even wider selection of colors that range from soothing neutrals to sexy jewel tones. The fabrics also have specific performance qualities too, like being machine-washable, pet friendly, and stain resistant to name a few. Mine is machine-washable, so I basically have no fear with red wine anymore. Love this for me!

Best Variety

Marshalls

Marshalls

Pros

  • Quality brands and chic pieces for great prices

Cons

  • Likely won’t be able to find the piece again if you don't get it on the spot
  • Might not be able to find online items in store

Okay, so this is a bit of a ~choice~, especially because its sister-brand HomeGoods is right there and for the obvious reason that Marshalls isn’t an actual furniture brand itself. But hear me out! While it’s not a furniture entity, it *does* have so many fantastic brands to choose from, which is why it’s literally always one of my first go-tos when I’m looking for a piece to put the final touches on a room. From accent chairs, dining chairs, sidetables, nightstands, barstools, lighting, and so much more, I’ve found some of my absolute favorite furniture items here. Because there’s so much to choose from, you have to know what to look for. Keep an eye out for brands like Tahari Home, Sagebrook Home, Drexel Heritage, Jofran, and Handcrafted in India to name a few. You can also find chic items in the home extension of fashion brands you know and love, like Tommy Hilfiger, Kate Spade, Ralph Lauren, and more. Nothing is better than quality brands for easy-on-your-wallet prices, amirite?

Best Designer-Level Brand

Lulu and Georgia

Lulu and Georgia

Pros

  • Endless chic options

Cons

  • Can get pretty pricey

Something about Lulu and Georgia has a high-brow boho vibe that I’m here for. Their aesthetic is so specific, but there are a lot of pieces that can blend in with any style. “If Crate & Barrel and West Elm had a baby, I think it would be Lulu and Georgia,” says Guyton. “It’s the perfect retailer where the comfort of today meets the style of tomorrow.” They make exclusive industry insider pieces that are available to everyday shoppers, explains Guyton, so you’re truly able to get the best of the best when shopping here.

12
Best Patio Furniture

Better Homes & Gardens

Better Homes & Gardens

Pros

  • Budget friendly
  • Have a wide range of quality products
  • Usually come with extra pillows

Cons

  • Might come in huge boxes

Listen, the furnishings from Better Homes & Gardens has quite literally never steered me wrong. The brand has all the smaller things to make a home feel cozy, like decor, lighting, and drinkware, and everything is really good. But please do not sleep on their big furniture pieces, especially their patio items (let us never forget the chokehold that the 2021 egg chair had us all in!). For the price, you’ll be hard-pressed to find outdoor furniture that is this comfortable, aesthetic, durable, and versatile. Even after withstanding some bad weather, the cushions keep their shape and texture and the fabric doesn’t fade. And if you’re looking for a set? This is by far one of the best brands to snag it from that won’t drain your wallet.

Best Bold Furniture

Jonathan Adler

Jonathan Adler

Pros

  • Unique pieces that are undupeable

Cons

  • Can get extremely pricey

If you love ultra luxe glamour with a side of whimsy, then anything by Jonathan Adler will make you absolutely swoon. The prices for this brand can get super steep, and for good reason, but Jones suggests leaning in to JA’s accessories and textiles, as well as the vases, pillows, nightstands, and side tables. “There are so many unique decor accents that make for great finishing touches in any home,” she says. I have JA’s Rocket Scotch Decanter on my bar cart and it’s such a fun splash for the space and a lot more visually alluring than the usual glass decanters.

14
Best Easy-to-Assemble Furniture

Thuma Co.

Thuma Co.

Pros

  • Literally created to last forever
  • Modular and customizable
  • Made from 100% upcycled wood
  • Wood comes in multiple finishes and colors
  • Lifetime warranty

Cons

  • Prices can be $$$$

My least favorite thing about furniture is that you have to actually put it all together. It is a total buzzkill and makes me question every skill I have. Thankfully, Thuma is here to solve all those problems. All of the minimalist pieces are no frills, but they don’t skim on quality and thoughtful details. Some of the pieces, like their Classic Bed, can be assembled in five! minutes! by one person (!!), and the Nest Dresser will take a whopping 10 minutes with just one person. Mind you, all of this requires absolutely zero tools, so say hello to your peace of mind being returned.

Best Dining Furniture

CB2

CB2

Pros

  • Tons of excellent options for a home
  • Always has fun design collabs with brands

Cons

  • Depending on the piece, prices can get expensive

CB2 has been one of my go-tos for a while, specifically for all things dining. I’m obsessed with everything from their flatware (I’ve had their Parallel Brushed Black set for few years and it’s withstood time), serving dishes (the Mori Matte Black serving bowl is basically the love of my life), and wide array of drinkware (big fan of their Estera white wine glasses!). And if you’re looking for furniture, you can’t go wrong there either. “CB2 offers design-forward modern furniture and decor within a reasonable price,” including everything from couches and swivel chairs to textiles, says Guyton. “It’s a great place to find a statement piece that will start a conversation in your home.” Some of those pieces, especially the bigger ones, can get pretty pricey, but they’re totally worth the splurge since they’ll last nearly forever and be a huge focal point.

16
Best Mid-Century Modern

Article

Article

If you love modern furniture that blends seamlessly with other styles, Article is for you. What’s even better is that the brand is also committed to eco-friendly sourcing and durable furniture, added Tirkkonen, which is a huge plus for long-lasting pieces that you can move with. “I love Article because it perfectly blends mid-century modern with Nordic design elements,” says Tirkkonen. “It embodies simplicity, functionality, and elegance in every piece.”
