Warning: If your phone doesn’t have at least one astro app, you risk being unprepared for the next big ~event~ in the universe. (Mercury Retrograde is legit always coming for you. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.)

But there are so many astrology apps out there that it can be overwhelming to choose one. Astro apps are big business: According to the mobile app market intelligence firm Sensor Tower, the top 10 astrology apps made $40 million altogether in 2019—a 64.7 percent increase from 2018. Co-Star alone raised $15 million in new funding 2021! With more than 20 million app downloads, it’s been downloaded by a full quarter of U.S. women ages 18 to 25.

But choosing an astrology app involves more than looking up the most popular one. See, there are a lot of different ways to use astrology. Do you want your daily horoscope, an in-depth analysis of your birth chart, or a compatibility reading? Do you want to learn the reasoning behind your horoscope, or are you happy just knowing what’s coming? Do you follow a particular house system or a particular school of astrology (like Vedic vs. Western?). Are you looking for an astrology-informed dating app?

We asked Team Cosmo plus astrology Twitter for their faves, then narrowed down the options to help you figure out which downloads belong on your home screen.
