This morning, Apple introduced an entirely new kind of product: the MacBook Neo. And before this laptop is spotted all over lecture halls, coffee shops, and kitchen tables everywhere, it made a pit-stop at a Cosmopolitan photoshoot set.

We gave the MacBook Neo the full Cosmo treatment, styling and shooting internety images of Apple’s most affordable laptop ever. Our team worked with photographer Bobby Doherty to showcase Neo the way we would style any major talent debut: with personality.

MacBook Neo was built by Apple to bring the quality the brand is known for to a more accessible price point. The starting price is $599, with $499 education pricing available year-round to current or newly accepted college students (and their parents!) as well as education faculty, staff, and homeschool teachers, through Apple Retail locations and the Apple Education Store online. Notably, the laptop is also made of 60 percent recycled content, the highest of any Apple product.

The design starts with a durable aluminum enclosure in four distinct colors—blush, indigo, silver, and a fresh citrus—that extend through the matching Magic Keyboard keycaps. The end result is the most colorful MacBook to date. At just 2.7 pounds, it feels substantial in hand yet light enough to slip into a backpack without a second thought.

Under the hood, you’ll find the MacBook Neo has up to 16 hours of battery life on a single charge, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, dual microphones, and dual side-firing speakers with Spatial Audio for immersive sound.

MacBook Neo arrives during a busy week of announcements from Apple, alongside the new iPhone 17e and iPad Air. But for Cosmo, the Neo felt like a natural fit for an editorially-minded first look, because if your new laptop is going to be in every photo dump, every study session, and every airport gate shot, it should look intentional.
