A few years ago, my idea of a fun night consisted of a happy hour or two and not getting home til midnight. Now, all I want to do after work is plant myself on my extra-deep Lovesac couch and cuddle up under a ginormous blanket with an Emily Henry book. But I’m not just talking about any blanket—it must (!!) be my extra-large Lola blanket.
I got my hands on the Lola x Tezza blanket over a year ago, and since then, it's become a personal passion of mine. Friends will specifically ask for it when they come over. Acquaintances will ask where it's from. My roommate Jana made a TikTok about how much she's going to miss my Lola blanket when she moves out, and it got a cool 2.6 million views. The most common comments were “add it to your registry” (great advice) and “just steal it from your roommate” (mixed feelings about that one). Basically, anyone who touches it is immediately influenced.
Considering buying one? I'd hand you a fabric swatch through the screen so you can feel the luxe goodness for yourself if I could, truly, I would! But technology hasn't gotten there yet, so instead, let's break down why the entire internet is obsessed with these blankets—and if the price point is actually worth it.
What's the deal with Lola Blankets?
I'm always a liiiittle suspicious of things that are splashed across my TikTok FYP (vibration plates, anyone?) so I get it if you have some questions. The brand's whole deal is that they make "the softest blankets ever"—super fluffy, double-sided blankets that have a luxurious, faux fur feel. They come in tons of different colors and sizes (including baby and XL, how's that for range?!) and yes, are a little more expensive than your average Target throw.
As far as celeb endorsements, Kourtney Kardashian, Jake Shane, Bethenny Frankel, Campbell Puckett, and tons of other influencers have shown love for the brand on their socials. Probably because they're the greatest blankets in the world (I know that's a huge statement but after using mine for a year there's really no contest).
Do they hold up and stay soft over time? What about when you wash them?
I recently unboxed a stunning new Lola blanket in the shade Retro Green from their fall collection (which has tons of other rich earthy and jewel tones, btw) and in full transparency, I compared it to the one I've had for over a year... and the new one is ever-so-slightly softer. But honestly, I expected that, given the amount of daily use the O.G. blanket goes through in my household. It's still held up beautifully over time and I definitely will be getting a lotttt more use out of it for years to come.
Plus, the good news is that you can machine wash these blankets (aka you don't have to pay a fat dry cleaning bill)... if you do it correctly. This means washing it in a big washing machine, by itself, with cold water and on a delicate/gentle cycle with a mild detergent. And then—and this is very important—air dry it. Do NOT put it in the dryer! If you want to fluff it up after it's completely dry, you can put it in the dryer but only on air mode without heat.
How much are Lola Blankets?
Lola Blankets are available in four different sizes:
- Baby (30 x 36 inches): $109
- Medium (50 x 60 inches): $249
- Large (60 x 72 inches): $299
- The Lola XL (80 x 90 inches): $399
Are they worth it?
I won't lie, $399 is not a small amount. If that's not in your budget, that's totally understandable—and there are other (albeit less soft and cozy) blankets out there!! However if you're wanting a luxe blanket and wondering whether the quality matches the cost, I can say that it absolutely does. They're thick, high quality, machine washable, durable, pretty... they seriously elevate the look of my couch and living room, and I know mine are going to last me for years.
So yeah, unfortunately they're a hundred percent worth it, and I can never go back to a regular blanket. Like, ever again.
