Today in King Charles is rich, he just dropped $3.8 million on a property next to Queen Camilla’s vacation home just to make sure it wasn’t turned it into a wedding venue.

According to the Daily Mail, Charles “averted a security crisis” by buying—with private funds!—the “Old Mill” next to Camilla’s house, which went up for sale and has been causing her “great anxiety.”

One source told the outlet, “Think of it—dozens of wedding guests carousing every weekend just the other side of her fence,” while another insider close to the Queen explained that there was “an imperative” for Charles to buy because a potential buyer wanted to “maximise commercial use of the property as a short-term holiday rental and wedding venue.”

Apparently, Charles will make sure the Old Mill has a “security-vetted tenant,” and a source says, “The new arrangement is a pragmatic solution, being both a sound financial investment and a way of maintaining Her Majesty’s privacy, protection and continued enjoyment of her much-loved home, without any public funds being used. I know how grateful and relieved she is, not least given all the additional stresses and anxieties of the past year. She has her horses, she walks her dogs and she loves spending time with her family. This business with her neighbour was frankly the last thing she needed.”
