Glossier just dropped its first-ever tinted lip oil—and it’s making its debut with a major Gen Z cosign. The brand teamed up with rising girl group KATSEYE to launch Lip Glaze, a juicy new formula that combines the high-shine finish of a gloss with the hydration of a lip oil. It is lightweight and nourishing and delivers a juicy pop of color in every swipe. Unlike Glossier’s classic balms and glosses, Lip Glaze has a serum-like texture that melts into lips for a skincare-meets-makeup moment (we love a hybrid formula!). And each member of KATSEYE is paired with their own specific shade, adding a personal touch to the six-hue lineup that feels fun, wearable, and totally unique, just like the group itself.

Ahead of the launch, I sat down with the members of KATSEYE—Lara Raj, Daniela Avanzini, Sophia Laforteza, Manon Bannerman, Yoonchae Jeung, and Megan Skiendiel—to chat about their earliest beauty memories, the Glossier staples they grew up on, and the details behind each of their coinciding shades. Scroll ahead for my convo with KATSEYE—plus deets on the Glossier Lip Glaze launch.

I know you just came out with a song called “Gnarly,” so what beauty trend do you deem gnarly?

Lara: Eyebrow slits

Daniela: Oh, or straight eyebrows

Sophia: Straight eyebrows are gnarly.

How do you stay true to your individuality while in a girl group?

Lara: I feel like each one of us has such a distinct persona, style, and lifestyle in general. We’ve developed that and found ourselves more as KATSEYE began. There are challenges when you do everything together—sometimes we find ourselves becoming the same person since we live the same life and we’re sisters, but I think we all make a very strong effort to stay true to our individual habits. It’s not something that’s come between us. It’s more something that we celebrate, our sisterhood and how much we share, but then we all come from different backgrounds.

How did your Glossier partnership come to life?

Manon: It was honestly a dream come true, because we’re all such makeup girlies and I feel like we all grew up using Glossier. So when we heard that they’re interested in working with us, we all freaked out a little. It was a true collaboration and just an amazing experience.

On her shade: I am obsessed with my Lip Glaze in Chilly because I love a shade that’s like, my lips but better. I love putting on a gloss or oil or anything hydrating and seeing the shine. It makes the whole makeup look so delicious. I don’t have to put a lipstick shade or anything— this gloss does it all.

On her first beauty memory: My mom was a performer too, so she would always be in full glam coming home after a show at 2 a.m. She never wanted me to wear makeup, but I wanted to so badly. I was super artsy and loved to draw, so I would dip watercolor pencils into water and try to draw on eyebrows and use the red colors for lipstick.

On her shade: My color is Frosty, and it’s kind of a purplish shade. But once you apply, it goes on more glassy, clear and pink. It makes my lips really glowy and feel cool.

On her first beauty memory: The first time I did my makeup was for auditions for K-pop companies and I was 12 years old. My mom used to do my makeup for me, and she did this 2000s makeup but not in that cool way. I really didn’t like it, but I couldn’t fix it because I didn’t know how to do it myself.

On her shade: My shade Icy is blue, but when you apply it, it’s actually more clear. I feel like when it comes to lip glosses and balms, I like a clear tint because I love to put lip liner on, and with the clear gloss, I just smudge the liner around to have more of my natural lip color.

On her first beauty memory: I grew up in the dance world and my mom would do my makeup quite a lot. She would do this crazy nose contour on me and she never blended it out enough. I looked crazy in person, but on camera, I did look snatched. Now I have contour blindness and love to contour my nose.

Her other Glossier favorites: Black Cherry Balm Dotcom and You Fleur Perfume

On her shade: So mine is Melty and I love it. It’s a super-rich dark-brown color. When I saw all the shades, I immediately gravitated toward this one. I feel like it looks really good on brown skin, so this is definitely great for the melanin girls. It goes really well on top of lip liner—I’m obsessed.

On her first beauty memory: I started doing singing performances when I was little, and I would do my own makeup and steal my sister’s eyeshadow palette. I’d take the black shade and put it all over my eye like Ke$ha and Christina Aguilera, but it was not giving them. I also grew up in New York and remember when the Glossier store opened. My friends and I would take the subway and wait on line for hours just to take a photo in the store.

Her other Glossier favorites: No. 1 Eye Pencil, Stretch Balm Concealer, You Perfume, and Lip Line

On her shade: I feel like the shades that fit me best, which I didn’t know until I got my color analysis done a year ago, are bright peachy and coral tones—and this is exactly that. I don’t love wearing too much on my lips, but these products are more like a lip balm than a full lipstick. It is not too harsh at all but still has color and adds something special to the makeup.

On her first beauty memory: I grew up dancing, so I’ve had to have a full face of makeup on since I was 4. My mom would do my makeup, and something that she did every time was eyeliner in my waterline. I remember that it hurt, but it also would feel so good and satisfying.

Her other Glossier favorites: The Stretch Fluid Foundation, Birthday Balm Dotcom, and You Perfume

On her shade: So my color Creamy is incredible. It’s just a super neutral pink color and it goes on nicely and is so hydrating. It makes my lips look and feel amazing. I love it so much.

On her first beauty memory: I used to be into drag and special effects makeup. When I would do SFX makeup, I would put bullet holes, glue, vaseline, and fake blood on my face and be like, “Mom, I hurt myself!”
