In late October, Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, and North West posted a Halloween costume reveal that caught plenty of the "extremely online" contingent by surprise. They were dressed as 23-year-old content creator Jay Guapõ and his family. Out of the many pop culture references the Kardashians have been known to make come Halloween season, fans found this homage to the Bronx-bred vlogger (who’s earned over 3.4 million followers recording dance videos with his family and escapades all over New York) particularly tapped in.

Since his TikTok first started gaining traction in 2022, while he was still working as a server at Häagen-Dazs, Guapõ and his daily, no-holds-barred videos have lived in a niche corner of the internet, appreciated by a significant, ever-growing fanbase, no doubt—but one that existed somewhat separate from the mainstream, still firmly in “TikTok famous” territory. But that recognition from Kim (who hopped into Guapõ’s comment section after the Halloween costume reveal to explain how “North put [her] on” to his content) was yet another indication that 2025 is the year the 23-year-old has officially gone Hollywood. Not in the pretentious or entitled way the phrase might suggest, but in the sense that he’s gradually ascending to classic celebrity status: He made his NYFW debut at the S/S ’26 Luar show, is now on a first-name basis with Kim, and has reached that casual level of recognition where his meet-and-greets shut down city blocks and require police intervention.

As an early fan, I’ve appreciated any and all Jay Guapõ content that’s graced my feed—the livestreams, the dance videos, the lovely little clips where he'll prank his mom (aka Chrissy G, a recurring character on his page). But in my eyes, what set his page apart early on were his 2022-era “Day in My Life” videos. Shot in a quick-cut format perfectly tailored for impatient scrolling, they captured the chaotic, ever-shifting nature of New York City. To me, that early content positioned him as the TikTok generation’s modern-day answer to city documentarians like Spike Lee and Martin Scorsese. They obviously weren’t Oscar-winning, feature-length films with fully fleshed-out characters, but they left me with the same satisfaction that any movie capable of authentically and hilariously capturing the city’s perennial havoc can. Jay knows how to visually narrate NYC’s most unexplainable quirks. And that’s why he’s been able to attract such devoted following—one that’s now millions deep, and includes some high-profile stans (Madonna among them).

So to cap off his whirlwind year, we had Jay stop by to take our Cosmo Quiz to find out a few fun facts about New York’s unofficial TikTok correspondent.
