- Lucas Bravo’s Gabriel is absent from the Emily in Paris season 5 trailer.
- Lucas addressed his character’s absence but refused to say whether or not he was leaving the show.
- Emily in Paris season 5 episode stills tease Gabriel’s season 5 storyline.
Netflix dropped the first trailer for Emily in Paris season 5 last week, giving fans a glimpse at Emily’s new fabulous life in Rome. Her fashion is on point, her career is thriving, her BFF Mindy is putting on a show, and she’s got a brand new boyfriend, Marcello. But in the midst of all this joy, there is one very notable absence: Gabriel. Does this mean Lucas Bravo is leaving Emily in Paris?
Whatever the reason for Gabriel’s absence from the season 5 trailer is, actor Lucas Bravo isn’t saying. “I would love to tell you something,” he teased in an interview with E! News. “I like the fact that I’m not in the trailer and that it creates a conversation, and I’m gonna keep the conversation running. I won’t say anything.”
Asked if his not being in the trailer meant he was leaving the show, Lucas kept it mysterious. “I don’t know,” he said. “I’m not in it.”
Of course, if Lucas were to leave the show, it wouldn’t exactly be a huge surprise. He’s been pretty vocal about his disappointment with his character’s arc last season. And he’d be the second series regular to depart this season, as Camille Razat previously announced she would not be returning.
Lucas might not be willing to confirm or deny his role in season 5, but photos don’t lie. In addition to dropping the teaser, Netflix also released some images from the season, which include not one, but two photos of the typically broody chef. Even more exciting? He’s actually smiling in one of them (see above).
In the second photo, Gabriel appears to be meeting with Antoine. Perhaps this means there are big things ahead for Gabriel’s restaurant—something that would keep him from going after Emily in Rome.
Based on these photos, it seems like Lucas is definitely going to be in Emily in Paris season 5, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he’ll be sticking around for the full season. We’ll just have to wait and see how Gabriel’s story pans out when Emily in Paris returns for season 5 on December 18.
