Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness’s Separation Has Been “Not Fully Amicable”

Hugh Jackman may have fully moved on to Sutton Foster (with whom he is “madly in love,” per an Us Weekly source), but apparently, he still has some unfinished business with his ex. On February 20, another Us Weekly insider gave an update on where Hugh and his ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, stand—and it seems like things are...not great.

“Hugh and Deborra-Lee’s separation has been stressful, hard, and not fully amicable,” the source noted. According to the insider, the exes are “moving forward as [best they can] despite hurt feelings and pain,” but “it will take a while to recover because they were together for so long.” Understandable!

The couple was married for 27 (!!) years before announcing their split in September 2023...and many fans suspected it had something to do with the relationship Hugh developed with his costar Sutton during their 11-month Broadway run of The Music Man.

“Sutton and Hugh’s relationship is the reason Hugh and Deb got divorced,” a source claimed to Us Weekly back in November 2024. “A lot of people on Broadway knew, and we kept it quiet because both of them are so nice and great people. Everyone respected their privacy. But there was an affair and overlap. They are really happy now.”

A few months after that in January 2025, Hugh and Sutton went public with their relationship, and according to a source for the Daily Mail, Deborra-Lee felt a “sense of relief” to have the relationship out in the open at last. “She trusted her intuition and her intuition was right,” the insider revealed. “She finally feels at ease after getting confirmation that her fears and suspicions were warranted. She can now fully close this chapter and move on.”

The exes have yet to file for divorce due to the fact that they don’t have a prenup (at least, according to the Daily Mail), but I expect that—when and if they do eventually divorce—things are going to get preeeeetty messy.
