New interests currently include: becoming ice hockey enthusiast, downloading every book in the Game Changers series, and following a bunch of NHL players on Instagram. In other words: 'tis the season to pivot our entire personality to HBO's new show, Heated Rivalry.
In case you haven't watched the first two very steamy episodes, Heated Rivalry follows professional hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, who start hooking up despite being rivals on the ice. We're only a couple episodes in so far, but the show is beautifully shot—and largely takes place in ice hockey rinks and bedrooms with dreamy lighting (tell us where you buy your lamps, set dressing team).
So...where was Heated Rivalry filmed, exactly?
Canada, for the most part!
Let's dig into some of the main locations:
Heated Rivalry filmed in and around Toronto and Montreal, and fans on Reddit have been busy identifying specific locations. Example? A hotel scene featured in eTalk's behind-the-scenes feature appears to have been filmed on the Lavelle rooftop.
The show also seemingly used the Sleeman Center in Guelph, Ontario, for a lot of the ice skating scenes—at least based on everyone's sleuthing!
Fans also identified Dundurn Castle in Hamilton as a stand in for Russia during a scene where Ilya is jogging.
Another location courtesy of Reddit investigators? The McMaster Burridge Gym in Hamilton, which appears to have been used as the outdoor location for Shane and Ilya's very first meeting.
Those of you who have read Heated Rivalry know that Shane and Ilya travel to a lot of locations, but yep: looks like Canada—with its incredibly diverse landscapes—was used for pretty much all of them! On that note, time to patiently wait for the next episode of My New Show™ to drop.
