11 Best Daytime Perfumes for the Office, Errands, and Everything In Between

According to beauty editors with very sensitive noses.

By

If you've been next to someone at work, on the bus, at the doctor's office, or in the grocery store with a perfume so strong it gave you a headache, you may be entitled to financial compensation. Or at least, you should, if I had a say. As a beauty editor, it's my job to put my nose on the line daily to sniff fragrances, whether they're subtle or strong in every scent family there is. Luckily, I can handle most of it all. My colleagues, however, are definitely sensitive, meaning I can't willy-nilly spritz away unless I want to be the most annoying coworker there is.

With that, I've curated a great list of subtle daytime perfumes that won't cause that dreaded cloying, head rush as soon as you spray the bottle. Whether you like a soft gourmand perfume, a clean-smelling fresh fragrance, a skin scent, or a green floral, I've got a new perfume for you. Keep reading for our top picks of 2026:

One Cosmo editor says: "A sexy, daytime perfume feels like an oxymoron, but this fig-heavy scent from Tom Ford accomplishes it. Instead of a warm, tart fig (like many of my favorite fig perfumes), this one is saccharine and juicy, giving the perfume a sensual vibe without smelling deep or intense. I could definitely wear it at night, but it's been my go-to during the day when I want to feel put-together in a mysterious way. It makes me feel like Yasmin Kara-Hanani walking into the office (IYKYK)."—BETH GILLETTE, BEAUTY EDITOR

One Cosmo editor says: "It's kinda warm and cozy, but not in that fall-perfume way you'd expect. It reminds me a lot of how my skin would smell after taking a shower. There's a clean, subtle scent that just sits right against my skin. It makes me feel powerful, but not because it's strong and intense. Rather, it just feels like an enhanced version of my own skin. To me, that's the sexiest way to smell."—BG

Sublimity Eau de Parfum

One Cosmo editor says: "I’ve quickly become obsessed with all of Lore’s perfumes (did you know that the caps of the bottles double as a cute candlestick holder?!), but I’ve specifically been spritzing Sublimity on repeat. It’s a fruity and musky scent that’s been getting me through the trenches of winter in NYC." —JASMINE HYMAN, ASSISTANT BEAUTY EDITOR

Snif Snif Me Eau de Toilette

Snif Me Eau de Toilette

One Cosmo editor says: "During the day, I avoid any heavy gourmand perfumes that could irritate the noses of my deskmates (I'm a great coworker, as you can tell). But Snif's Me is a soft, creamy scent that defies the usual complaints you'd get with a sweet perfume. Caramel, peach skin, and plum are yummy but fully grounded by musk, moss, and sandalwood. The result is a smooth, subtle perfume that sits close to my skin."—BG

Best Floral Daytime Perfume

DIOR Miss Dior Eau de Parfum

Miss Dior Eau de Parfum

One Cosmo editor says: "A fresh, honeyed floral is exactly what I come to think of as a "Dior" scent. Miss Dior has been around for ages now, but this version feels so true to the house. It's soft, green, and fresh—there's peony, iris, lily of the valley, and rose that make up the floral profile. I'm not usually obsessed with floral perfumes, but I love how this one makes me feel put-together and chic. Like I'm wearing a blazer and going to a business luncheon. I think it works for me, though, because there's vanilla, musk, benzoin, and sandalwood in the dry down that completes the scent. There's more depth than meets the eye, which feels like a really beautiful nod to the Miss Dior person themself, you know?"—BG

One Cosmo editor says: "At first sniff, it's powdery and musky—a soft floral, thanks to the jasmine in the top notes of the perfume. It's very traditionally feminine and fresh in the opening. But as it dries down, I get some of the warmth from amber, vanilla, and cedar—a touch of sweetness with a grounding element of woods make this a purely fresh floral, not a sweet perfume, by any means. When I first tested it, the scent was simple. Like the white T-shirt of perfumes. But as I kept wearing it, and people continuously asked what perfume I was wearing because I smelled so good, I realized that maybe the uncomplicated combination of notes was exactly what I needed."—BG

One Cosmo editor says: “A little tart and a little sweet, this helped me get through the depths of winter because of how joyful and playful it feels, and you best believe I’ll be wearing it long into the warm season. In fact, I’m already naming it the scent of the summer.” —MARY HONKUS, CONTRIBUTING BEAUTY EDITOR

One Cosmo editor says: "I've been almost exclusively wearing Flowerbomb for the last few weeks to really nail my thoughts on this scent. But in all honesty, it wasn't exactly just because I was trying to do this experiment. If I hated how it smelled, I would have 100 percent ditched it in favor of one of my other go-tos (typically, a gourmand perfume). So when, I chose to douse myself in Flowerbomb for the Tate McRae concert this weekend, I knew it was something I really loved."—BG

Versace Bright Crystal Eau de Toilette

Bright Crystal Eau de Toilette
Now 24% Off

One Cosmo editor says: "Naturally, an eau de toilette is going to be lighter and potentially better for daytime. But unlike many EDTs, this Versace fragrance has pretty great longevity without the overwhelming performance. I think of bubbly champagne every time I put this on—not an overflowing glass at dinnertime, but a crisp, ultra-cold brunch cocktail. It's soft but with a sparkling quality—ahem, that's the 'crystal' of it all—that immediately makes me feel like I've spritzed on something special."—BG
