Even though I graduated from college more than a decade ago (😲), September still gives me back-to-school vibes. After a chaotic summer, it's a time to get organized, reassess routines, and, of course, do a little shopping to stock up on staples and refresh your look for the fall season.

When it comes to beauty shopping, there’s no better place to discover the latest and greatest than this list of 22 editor-approved favorites. Curated by me (aka Cosmo’s beauty director) and the rest of the beauty team, these new skincare, makeup, hair, and fragrance finds are the perfect addition to any fall beauty wardrobe. Keep scrolling for the best beauty products of September, including the perfect summer-to-fall transition perfume, a new and improved version of the iconic NARS multiple, a collagen-boosting sheet mask that makes skin glow for days, a drugstore body lotion that smells (and feels) ultra luxe, and so much more.

"An exceptionally lightweight alternative to the OG Moroccanoil treatment for fine-haired friends like myself, this new mist-on version has truly been the workhorse of my haircare routine over the last few weeks. I liberally spray it on damp hair to help detangle and provide heat protection before blow drying, and then on dry hair as needed to smooth frizz and add lots of shine without any heaviness or greasy feel." —LAUREN BALSAMO, BEAUTY DIRECTOR

"I conic celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan's haircare brand has been a long time coming. But with how much I'm obsessed with this Styling Balm, I'm fully convinced it was worth it. I have fine, flat hair that gets weighed down by practically everything. I've mostly stopped even testing leave-in conditioners at this point—everything makes my hair look greasy in a matter of minutes. But not this balm. A tiny dot on my palms is enough to massage through my mid-lengths to ends (plus a lil on my bangs to help encourage hold and protect from blow-dryer heat). And it actually sinks into my hair. When I use this, I have my best hair days, whether I blow dry or air dry." —BETH GILLETTE, BEAUTY EDITOR

"This plant-based gelée is giving tons of curl definition without the annoying crunch. The texture is like a juicy jelly that's lightweight, but somehow still delivers strong, flexible hold. My curls feel soft and bouncy—never stiff or brittle—when I use this. I also love that it layers beautifully with leave-ins and oils, so it plays well in a routine instead of fighting with other products. It even held up in humidity, so I will definitely be adding this to my warm-weather haircare arsenal." —JULEE WILSON, BEAUTY EDITOR-AT-LARGE

"Even though summer is coming to a close, I don’t want to give up my fresh and fruity perfumes. By/Rosie’s newest scent is the perfect way to take a bright mandarin-forward perfume and give it an autumnal twist. The warmth of white amber and the spice of cardamom ground it just enough to make it seasonally ambiguous. It lasts all day, and even lingers on my clothes long after I’ve sprayed it." —JASMINE HYMAN, ASSISTANT BEAUTY EDITOR

"I'm extremely picky about floral perfumes and admittedly expected to hate this. But the scent is layered with juicy strawberry, warm brown sugar, amber, and yummy bourbon vanilla that gives the whole thing a fun and youthful twist. It's not too intense for the office or daytime, but also just sweet enough that I'd grab for it on a date night." —BG

"In high school, all I wanted was NARS Orgasm. I didn't quite understand the vulgarity of the shade name at the time, but I certainly knew its power and virality, even in an age before Instagram. With little money, I went with the Multiple over the powder, figuring I'd get more bang for my buck, being able to use it a handful of ways. Seeing this packaging again in 2025 feels nostalgic and exciting, and the updated formula is definitely fit with the times of our current makeup trends. It's creamy and blendable, but sets down to a skin-like finish that pairs with practically every foundation I own (and I've tested it with a lot at this point). On my lips, I love the light wash of color it gives without feeling heavy. And of course, it makes for a really simple monochromatic look when I smudge it on my eyes, cheeks, and lips." —BG

"Ok, I just tried these new foundation drops by VBB and I’m hooked. Here’s the deal: this stuff actually melts into your skin—like you barely feel it, but it still looks super polished. The glow is real! I used shade number 13, which is a warm-medium with neutral undertones. There are a total of 18 shades, and I’m hoping they will keep expanding the color range after a successful launch. As far as texture, it doesn’t feel heavy or settle into fine lines. Plus, it’s another VBB collab with luxury skincare brand Augustinus Bader, so it’s laced with TFC8, which is an award-winning skin-perfecting compound. This is worth the splurge!" —JW

"I normally stick to Ballet Slippers and classic reds, so if you told me that I'd be obsessed with a forest-green nail polish, I'd honestly never have believed you. Dazzle Dry's Fern has changed me, though. It's the perfect muted, creamy green (none of that St. Patrick's Day green nonsense) that wears like a neutral. The shade feels fall-like without being too on-the-nose, and the formula lasts me a full five days without chips." —LB

"The original Makeup By Mario foundation is lovely, but far too glowy for my oily skin. Luckily, this new natural-finish version has a cloud-like softness that looks exactly like my skin after I've blotted it a bit. It's not matte, necessarily (so don't get scared), but it doesn't have the initial dewiness as the luminous version. I've been applying it with the brand's famed F4 brush to get extra coverage, but Mario recommended choosing the F1 brush for days when you want a sheer look." —BG

"So, I spritzed this setting spray after doing my full face of makeup, and within seconds, it felt and looked like a soft filter had been laid over my skin. Pores, where? I also love that it smoothed out the texture of my skin. And since the formula is packed with hyaluronic acid and humectants, my skin stayed ultra-hydrated. I love that you can press it in with a puff or sponge for extra blurring, too. It’s become my go-to midday refresher when my skin starts acting up." —JW

"The best lip balms are the ones you don't have to use all the time. Like, they hydrate and moisturize your lips so well that you only have to swipe them on occasionally to reap the benefits. Balm Amour is exactly that—I can apply it once, and hours later, my lips are still so plush and soft and pillowy. It looks gorgeous alone, or layered over a nude lip pencil." —LB

"The way this buttery cream cocoons my skin in a layer of thick, plush moisture is nothing short of magical. I have painfully dry elbows and legs, and this stuff makes them soft and silky for hours. The scent is also really nice—a fresh, woodsy blend that's relaxing but overwhelming. As the weather gets cooler and skin gets drier in the coming months, I know this will be a staple in my routine." —LB

"Swiss skincare brand Timeline’s entire lineup is powered by Mitopure, a patented ingredient that supports skin and cell longevity, and the eye cream is my personal favorite. It’s rich without being heavy, comes with a cooling applicator that doubles as a de-puffer. It actually works on dark circles and fine lines, aka my two biggest under-eye insecurities. After a month of nightly use, I’ve had concealer-free mornings for the first time in years." —JH

"Over the summer, I was lucky enough to experience one of Valmont's luxury facials. During the treatment, my aesthetician used this collagen mask on me, and I swear my skin looked plump and dewy for literal days after as a result. It's a total splurge, but used before a big event, I think it's worth every dollar. It's one of those things that you just have to try for yourself to understand the hype." —LB

"I was first introduced to this serum by my aesthetician, who I pretty much trust with my life, so I was pumped when she gave me some to take home. I looked up how much it costs, and was scared to get hooked on it, but alas. As someone with chronically dry skin to the point of flaking, I used this as an overnight mask while traveling, and my skin looked glass-like once I woke up. If you have super dehydrated skin and are willing to splurge on a serum for the dry winter months, let this be this one." —JH

"Combined with my Rx azelaic acid, this toner has majorly helped reduce the redness from my hormonal acne. It supports a healthy skin microbiome so that good bacteria on your skin can thrive and bad bacteria (like the kind that causes acne) cannot. I also find that it provides lightweight hydration, too. Normally I'd say toners are an optional step in a skincare routine, but Rescue Tonic is now a nonnegotiable for me." —LB

"When my face is feeling extra dull and dry, which is more often than not these days, I love throwing on one of these hydrating masks. They’re soaked in hyaluronic acid, glycerin, niacinamide, and loads of plant extracts. I even keep a few at my desk at work and love throwing one on mid-day (perks of being a beauty editor) for a skin pick-me-up." —JH

"Our beauty closet is absolutely packed with body oils because I almost always refuse to try them. I can't stand feeling greasy or getting any weird residue getting all over my phone camera (a recent thing that happened when I tested a new one—annoying). But when I learned about Pattern Beauty's foray into body care, I was intrigued by this formula. Apparently, founder Tracee Ellis Ross swears by slathering her entire body in this while her skin is still wet in the shower. I copied her once, and now I literally cannot shower without doing as such. The wetness makes it extremely quick and easy to apply all over. And it actually somewhat absorbs but still manages to leave behind a pretty (and non-sticky) sheen." —BG

"Nature of Things just relaunched with a stunning hair and body collection. I'm especially into the Coconut Oil and Cupuaci Body Bar (it's currently out of stock, but keep your eyes peeled) and the Restorative Floral Body Lotion. The plant-based formula feels lightweight but is deeply moisturizing thanks to shea butter and glycerin. And the scent is SO good. It's a floral—but not in the typical way. To me, it smells a little bit tropical and a little bit earthy—like you're walking through a lush jungle getting the occasional whiff of an exotic flower." —LB

"I was never an oil-based body wash person, until I tried Glossier’s. I use this to hydrate my skin after scrubbing my body with an exfoliator, and it leaves my arms and legs feeling so smooth and smelling subtly musky. " —JH
