12 of the Most Egregious Emmy Snubs of 2025: From Diego Luna to ‘Squid Game’

Justice for Justine Lupe!

I am thrilled to report that the Television Academy got a lot of the 2025 Emmy nominations right. HBO’s The Pitt swept the Drama noms, Martin Scorsese earned a nomination for his scene-stealing guest appearance in Apple TV+’s The Studio, and Adam Brody got recognized for being the hot rabbi of our dreams in Nobody Wants This. That said, there are some 2025 Emmy snubs we absolutely need to recognize.

Before we get into it, keep in mind that some of your faves of the year might not be on the list of nominees or snubs because they aren’t actually eligible. The window for this year’s Emmys was between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025, so shows like Too Much won’t be up for nominations until next year. Other shows, like Squid Game or The Bear, were eligible for past seasons—not the ones you just binge-watched last month.

The 2025 Emmys will air live on Sunday, September 14, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+ and you can check out all the Emmy nominees here.

Justine Lupe more than proved that she was a comedic powerhouse on Succession, but she really killed it in Nobody Wants This. As much as I love Adam Brody, every second Justine wasn’t onscreen, I wished she was.

Skye P. Marshall, ‘Matlock’ — Supporting Actress in a Drama

Kathy Bates proved network shows still have some Emmy juice with her nom for Outstanding Leading Actress in a Drama. So why not nominate her Matlock costar Skye P. Marshall? Skye’s work on the CBS hit is truly remarkable—she’s funny yet never a caricature, commanding but never unreachable—and her scenes opposite Kathy never disappoint.

Taylor Dearden, ‘The Pitt’ — Supporting Actress in a Drama

To be clear: Most of the supporting cast of The Pitt should have been nominated for Emmys. The work on HBO’s medical drama is remarkable, and I would love to personally award each and every one of them. That said, I’m especially surprised by Taylor Dearden’s snub. Not only is she incredibly engaging as the eager med student Dr. Melissa King, but her character also got some incredibly emotional moments—classic Emmy bait!

‘Industry’ — Drama Series

Cosmopolitan social media specialist Corinne Bickel calls Industry’s snub for Outstanding Drama Series “egregious” and added that many actors from the show earned nominations. Specifically Myha’la Herrold and Marisa Abela, who she says, “gave some of the greatest performances of both their careers and of 2024.”

‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’ — Talk Show

For some bizarre reason, the Television Academy only nominated three shows for Outstanding Talk Series: The Daily Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. But what about Late Night With Seth Meyers, aka the best late night show on television? I’m tired of Seth Meyers being snubbed year after year, especially as his “A Closer Look” segment continues to best The Daily Show at its own game. Justice for Late Night!

Jacob Anderson, ‘Interview With the Vampire’ — Lead Actor in a Drama Series

Interview With the Vampire is one of the most consistently snubbed shows in general, so while it wasn’t exactly surprising that season 2 didn’t net the show any big noms (specifically for Jacob Anderson), it was disappointing. Especially since the show did earn nominations for Makeup and Hairstyling, so we know the voters were watching!

Diego Luna, ‘Andor’ — Lead Actor in a Drama Series

Andor season 2 was nominated for 14 Emmys, including Outstanding Drama Series, but there was no love for the show’s leading man Diego Luna, who is literally the entire reason this show was made in the first place! After leading two seasons of pretty excellent television, he deserved a nod (especially seeing as Pedro Pascal earned a nomination in the same category, despite only appearing in 2.5 episodes of The Last of Us season 2.)

Samantha Sloyan, ‘The Pitt’ — Guest Actress in a Drama Series

Press pause at random during any episode of The Pitt season 1, and you’ll be looking at an Emmy-worthy actor. Many guest stars broke my heart this season, but none more so than Samantha Sloyan, who appeared as the mother of a young man who overdosed.

Ben Mendelsohn, ‘Andor’ — Guest Actor in a Drama Series

Ben Mendelsohn was both menacing and incredibly funny on Andor, and, really, you can’t ask for better than that. Also, he wore TF out of that cape, and I feel he should be rewarded for it.

Patrick Ball, ‘The Pitt’ — Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

Patrick Ball deserves a nomination for making us all fall in love with Dr. Frank Landon and then pulling the rug out from under us with a deliciously heartbreaking performance. If you see a Pitt fan today, give them a hug. They’re going through it.

‘Squid Game’ — Drama Series

I’ll let entertainment editor Tamara Fuentes take this one: “In a very strange twist, Squid Game got no love this round for its second season. With high expectations surrounding the series and its big return, it’s kind of surprising to see how quickly voters have either turned on it or simply have forgotten that it came back in the first place. This clearly doesn’t bode well for its third season, which will be up for awards next Emmys round, as the series comes to end.”

‘The Traitors’ — Casting for a Reality Program

The Traitors season 3 casting was truly phenomenal. And you don’t have to take it from me, just listen to what Cosmo entertainment editor Tamara Fuentes had to say:

Dylan Efron went from being the unknown brother of Zac Efron to one of the biggest heartthrobs from reality TV. Gabby Windey broke the Bachelor bubble and is now hosting her own dating series. Boston Rob because more of a household name as Gen Z discovered one of the greatest contestants to ever play. With another stellar cast and one that broke the internet more than ever before, it's weird for them to not get the nomination they deserve, especially after its best season yet thanks to all the drama this cast delivered.”
