The second a new murder mystery show starts streaming, you better believe I'm clicking that play button with 0.5 seconds and the next show on my to-be-watched radar is The Better Sister, which dropped on Prime on May 29. The show, based on the book of the same name, focuses on two estranged sisters who, despite sharing some very key people in their lives (*cough cough* one of them married the other's ex-husband!), couldn't be more different. But when said husband is mysteriously murdered, the sisters come back together and try to handle the situation as a family unit.

The cast for this show is just as exciting as the premise, with some big names and industry veterans taking on the roles. So, here are all the cast and characters you can look forward to seeing in The Better Sister.

Jessica Biel as Chloe Taylor

Chloe is a successful writer who appears to have the perfect life: she's married to a well-off lawyer and they have an amazing son from Adam's previous marriage. The only thing is that that previous marriage just so happens to have been with Chloe's sister, Nicky. Yeah, super weird, and Chloe tries to keep it on the DL so that people don't find out. But when Adam is suddenly murdered, secrets start to spill.

Jessica Biel may have gotten her start on the family drama show 7th Heaven, but she quickly became a household name and has now starred in hit series like The Sinner and Candy.

Elizabeth Banks as Nicky Mackintosh

Nicky is Chloe's not-quite-as-successful sister who's always struggled to settle down or even keep a job. After Adam's death, she shows up at her sister's penthouse apartment and they try to stick together to keep their family from totally falling apart.

Elizabeth Banks needs no introduction, she's an actress and director with a beyond-impressive resume. Chances are you'll recognize her from massive franchises like The Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect, or TV shows like Wet Hot American Summer and 30 Rock.

Corey Stoll as Adam Macintosh

Adam is a hot-shot lawyer in New York City but he's not quite as good at fitting into the high-class lifestyle as his wife Chloe is. He's often worried about the effects of their wealth on their son Ethan, that is until Adam is mysteriously murdered in his home.

Corey Stoll is a New York native that you probably recognize from House of Cards where he played Congressman Peter Russo. He's also been in Midnight in Paris, Ant-Man and its sequel, and the 2021 remake of West Side Story.

Maxwell Acee Donovan as Ethan Macintosh

Ethan is Nicky's biological son and Chloe's nephew/stepson (yes, it's still weird). He's 17 and gets along great with Chloe but has a more complicated relationship with his dad. Things turn even worse when the police make Ethan their prime suspect for his dad's murder.

At just 20 years old, Maxwell Acee Donovan is a relative newcomer, but if you've been watching That '90s Show then you've already seen him in action playing Nate.

Kim Dickens as Nancy Guidry

Nancy is one of the detectives investigating Adam's murder. She's observant, picking up on every little clue, and she's not afraid to tell anyone what she thinks, their feelings be damned!

Fans of Fear of the Walking Dead will know Kim Dickens for her years-long role as Madison Clark, but she's also been in House of Cards, Friday Night Lights and the movie Lizzie where she played Lizzie Borden's sister, Emma.

Bobby Naderi as Matt Bowen

Matt is Nancy's younger detective partner who's also investigating the murder. He's not as in-your-face as Nancy, opting to come off non-threatening to try to get people to open up to him and possibly spill some clues.

Bobby Naderi is an Iranian actor who grew up between Iran, Europe and Canada. He was in a few episodes of Netflix's Black Summer but his role in The Better Sister is one of his first feature roles in a big production, and we'll hopefully be seeing more very soon.

Gabriel Sloyer as Jake Rodriguez

Jake is one of the lawyers at Adam's high-powered firm. He and Adam both kinda feel like outsiders there and have grown close because of that. In fact, Jake is close with Adam's whole family, but the whole murder thing does put that to the test.

Gabriel Sloyer is an actor from New York with plenty of experience being in hit shows created by streaming services. He had roles in Netflix's Inventing Anna and Griselda.

Lorraine Toussaint as Catherine Lancaster

Catherine Lancaster is the best of the best when it comes to publishing in New York City. She's just got that strategic mind that you need to be successful. She's also Chloe's boss and mentor.

Originally born in Trinidad, Lorraine Toussaint has racked up a long resume and a string of accolades along the way. She spent years on the show Saving Grace and played Yvonne in Orange is the New Black.

Gloria Reuben as Michelle Sanders

Michelle is a savvy, well-respected lawyer who's known for doing things her own way and refusing to stay quiet. She might think she's seen it all until she crosses paths with Chloe and Nicky.

Gloria Reuben is a Canadian-American actress who's probably most widely recognized for her role as Jeanie Boulet on ER. But if films are more your thing, she's Emmy nominated for her role as Elizabeth Keckley in Steven Spielberg's Lincoln.

Matthew Modine as Bill Braddock

Bill Braddock is one of the founding partners at Adam and Jake's law firm. He's a little unpredictable and can be your best friend or worst enemy depending on how he's feeling that day.

For anyone who's putting their Netflix subscription to good use, you'll recognize Matthew Modine as Dr. Martin Brenner (AKA Papa) from Stranger Things. He also played Rick Singer, the orchestrator of the college admissions scandal, in the movie Operation Varsity Blues.

Arty is a loyal guy from Queens and he' s also the doorman at Chloe's luxury New York City apartment building.

Michael Harney will forever be associated in my mind with playing corrections officer Sam Healy in Orange is the New Black, but he's also been in huge blockbuster movies like Erin Brockovich and Ocean's Thirteen.
