The producers from the Bachelor franchise are clearly the captains of Team No Sleep, because there is quite literally no break with any of these shows. Once Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia’s joint season of The Bachelorette wrapped last September, the newest Bachelor was announced at their finale—as everyone knows by now, the new leading man was Zach Shallcross (one of Rachel’s final dudes)! Zach’s Bachelor season ended last night with a proposal to Kaity Biggar (!!), but before he popped the question, viewers spent the season getting to know a good bit about all the ladies competing for his heart on national television.
But as with all Bachelor franchises, the pool had to narrow in order for the lead to find ~the one~…which means people had to get packing. Zach himself told Cosmopolitan in an interview that this was one of the hardest parts of the show: “I mean, it was very tough, sending home contestants. Even from a very early point, all the women really were incredible. And some of the relationships really did progress quickly, and then you learn a lot about relationships and, you know, the feelings can change or evolve. When you have to send someone home, you know what that feeling of, like, you put your life on hold, you left all that behind to be here and put your heart out on the line and be vulnerable and be open. And if it didn’t work, that’s painful. I never want to give anyone pain or make anyone feel less than, so I took it very personal when I would have to send home someone. It was the worst part of it all, really.”
