Meet the Cast and Characters of ‘Big Mistakes’
The family in Dan Levy’s new comedy has plenty of familiar faces.
The family in Dan Levy’s new show probably wishes they were managing a hotel in the middle of nowhere, Ontario. Big Mistakes, which was co-created by Levy and Rachel Sennott (I Love LA, Bottoms, Bodies Bodies Bodies, the list goes on…) follows the last two people you’d want to blackmail into doing your dirty work. Wanna guess what happens to them?
The show is inspired by one of Levy’s IRL biggest phobias. "I have a completely unfounded fear of being entrapped by organized crime," he told Entertainment Weekly. "Most of the time, you can't really get out once you're in, and that felt really scary to me, but it also felt really propulsive as a story idea for TV."
An ensemble show, especially with a family, means a lot of names and relationships to learn. Here’s what you need to know about the characters on Big Mistakes.
Dan Levy plays Nicky
Nicky is, seemingly, a priest who gets blackmailed into the world of organized crime along with his sister and kind of fail upwards against all odds.
Levy is the co-creator and co-star of Schitt’s Creek. But besides (ew) David Rose, he appeared in Happiest Season, the final season of Sex Education, and wrote, directed as well as starred in Good Grief. He was also a very good Emmy Awards host in 2024, and I don’t want people to forget about that. Have a good one!

Taylor Ortega plays Morgan
Morgan is Nicky’s sister and unfortunate partner in crime. Per the official description of the show, the two of them are “deeply incapable” and “in over their heads” in this high stakes world.
Ortega played Nadine on Welcome to Flatch and has been on a ton of your favorite television shows, including Succession, Party Down, What We Do in the Shadows, and The Four Seasons. She was also a very funny FBI agent in Another Simple Favor.

Laurie Metcalf plays Linda
Linda is Nicky and Morgan’s mother who happens to be running for local office.
Metcalf became famous on Roseanne (and then reprised her role on The Connors) and won three Emmy Awards for playing Jackie Harris on the sitcom. She was nominated for an Oscar, a BAFTA, and an Independent Spirit Award for Lady Bird as well as an Actor Award for Desperate Housewives. She also has two Tony Awards. Trophies aside, you might also know her best from Scream 2, Hacks, or The Big Bang Theory.
Abby Quinn plays Natalie
Natalie is Morgan and Nicky’s more traditionally competent sibling.
Quin was part of the recent Mad About You reboot, playing Mabel. Her other credits include some spooky scary movies like Knock at the Cabin, Hell of a Summer, and Torn Hearts. You might also recognize her from Greta Gerwig’s Little Women, Shithouse, or I’m Thinking Of Ending Things.
Elizabeth Perkins plays Annette
Perkins was nominated for every major acting award under the sun for her portrayal of Celia Hodes in the Showtime satire Weeds. (Twice at the Emmys, twice at the Screen Actors Guild, and three times at the Golden Globes.) You also know her comedy chops from Big, Sharp Objects, Minx, The Afterparty, GLOW, The Flintstones movie, and Another Simple Favor to name a few.
Jack Innanen plays Max
Max is Morgan’s boyfriend.
You’ve probably seen rumors on social media that Innanen is playing at least three different characters on Heated Rivalry season 2. For now, you can watch the Canadian actor, comedian, and former full-time TikTok creator as Paul Baker on the very very funny FX/Hulu series Adults. He was also in a Crave Original (eyes emoji) comedy called The Office Movers.
Boran Kuzum plays Yusuf
Yusuf is the guy who, more or less, gets the sibs into this mess.
Kuzum is a Turkish actor who had leading roles in shows like Vatanım Sensin (which earned him several Breakthrough Actor awards) and Şahin Tepesi as well as several films prior to Big Mistakes.
