Is There Going to Be a Bridgerton Season 5?
Yes! It’s one of Netflix's most popular tentpoles, so expect the show to keep trucking along until they run out of source material from author Julia Quinn. On that note, season 5—and season 6—were officially renewed back in May 2025.
When Is Bridgerton Season 5 Coming Out?
Unclear, but there’s typically over a year between seasons. Here’s what the schedule has been so far:
- Season 1: December 25, 2020
- Season 2: March 25, 2022
- Season 3: May 16, 2024
- Season 4: January 29, 2026
So it seems likely that we can expect Bridgerton season 5 sometime in late 2027 or even early 2028.
Has Bridgerton Season 5 Begun Filming?
Not as of yet. But IMDb reports that season 5 will begin production in spring 2026, so everyone will be back on set soon. Meanwhile, Shonda Rhimes confirmed the show was in the writers’ room as of October:
What Is Bridgerton Season 5 About?
More specifically, who? We know seasons 5 and 6 will focus on Eloise and Francesca, but we don’t know who’s coming first.
FYI, showrunner Jess Brownell revealed the leads of the show via pocket square at the premiere. Speaking to Deadline on the red carpet, Jess said, “Both characters with the initials on my pocket squares will get seasons in 5 and 6. In what order? I can’t say.”

Who’s Returning to the Bridgerton Season 5 Cast?
At this point, the returning cast remains unclear (stay tuned!), but it seems safe to assume most of our faves will be staging a comeback, including Benedict and Sophie, as it’s been tradition for the former season’s star couple to feature in the next season.
Meanwhile, Jess Brownell tells Forbes that the rest of the returning characters will depend on next season’s lead. “I think if we’re thinking about someone like Eloise, actually, her relationship with Kate, as well as her relationship with Penelope, are really important relationships. So those are two characters I would really expect to see. When we talk about Francesca, she doesn’t realize it yet, but she has a bit of overlap with Benedict in terms of queerness. So that is a relationship I would want to see when we get to Francesca’s season.”
