Netflix’s The Night Agent has been one of the streamer’s top 10 all-time global hits thus far, and that’s not surprising given its gripping premise. The political action-thriller follows low-level FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) who goes from monitoring a phone in the basement of the White House—which almost never rings—to being launched straight into uncovering high-level crimes and corruption within powerful institutions. Season 3 sees our protagonist taking on a global conspiracy, which puts him in deep danger with no easy way out.

Each moment of the show so far has been more exciting than the next. And since the third season of has dropped, some eager fans are already wondering whether a fourth season is already coming their way. Here’s what we know about The Night Agent season 4.

There hasn’t been official confirmation just yet from Netflix about The Night Agent’s renewal for a fourth season, however the show’s creator Shawn Ryan says that it’s already in the works. In an interview with Deadline, he shared, “Season 4 is not officially picked up yet, but a while ago, in calendar year 2025, they did quietly pick up a writers room. We’ve been working for a while on the storyline. We have some scripts, we are breaking stories.”

But Ryan suggested that we might be hearing an update soon, given that the series producer Sony Pictures TV in November received a $31.6M tax credit to move the show from New York to Los Angeles. And the credit comes with a six-month window to start production, so The Night Agent season 4 should be confirmed by May 2026 at the latest.

The show has gone well beyond the original source material, which is a novel of the same name by Matthew Quirk. And while there are larger intersecting plot lines, each season thus far has focused on completely different cases with minimal crossover, each coming with new sets of characters. So, at this point, it’s difficult to know for sure what The Night Agent season 4 would be about. But one thing’s for sure: expect more action, and higher stakes.

Because Netflix hasn’t announced a season 4 renewal, there’s also no confirmed return date for the show. However, if we go off of the release dates for previous seasons, it’s likely going to take another year or so. With the writer’s room already at work, here’s to hoping it’s sooner rather than later. It would be terrible have to wait as long as viewers did between the first and second seasons, which was around 22 months.
