The first six episodes of Love Is Blind season 10 had some pretty shocking moments (that love triangle between Tyler, Keya, and Kevan? That cringey date with Emma and Stephen? That time when Elissa put nail glue in her eye???). Personally, I’m still thinking about that conversation between Alex and Brittany in Cabo that took place during episode six. Watching the scene, it looked as though Alex was coming on to Brittany (despite being engaged to Ashley...), but according to Alex, fans have totally misinterpreted his intentions.
During an exclusive interview with Cosmo, we asked Alex whether he was, indeed, trying to shoot his shot with Brittany by insinuating that she was more his type than Ashley. Alex’s response? “I don’t even think that that conversation was meant, from my perspective, to be flirty.”
He continued, “It looks like I’m going in there after there’s some issue with Devonta and Brittany, when in reality, I am still struggling with trying to get past the physical with Ashley, and it looks like [Brittany]...might be struggling with that as well. So my motivate in that was more, ‘Hey, how are you dealing with this?’”
So...was he coming on to her? According to Alex, no. “Yes, it kind of comes off as flirty, which doesn’t make me look great, honestly,” he said, “but at the same time, that was never my intention.”
In case you missed it: Despite Alex and Ashley’s very horny first look, he later revealed in Cabo to Brittany (who’s engaged to Devonta) that Ashley is “a different type of person than [he] would have gone after before,” since he typically likes “darker features.”
And while Brittany acknowledged that Devonta is not her usual type, either (she told Alex that usually goes for tall, athletic men), she still walked away from Alex’s confession looking a little wary, calling the conversation “surprising” because of Alex’s “ruthlessness.”
For what it’s worth: Fans seem to agree.
Brittany also said she felt a lil nervous for Ashley going forward, which...fair! Guess we’ll have to see what goes down between Alex and Ashley (and Brittany and Devonta) in the next batch of episodes, which drop on Wednesday, February 18.
